Re: Caleb Marchbank?
We should be ringing his manager immediately, a very likely type.
Not sure what it would cost pick wise, but If we could get Marchbank and Steele as a package it'd be a good get.

Re: Caleb Marchbank?
Jaxon posted with some sense of certainty in another thread that Marchbank will be at Carlton.

Re: Caleb Marchbank?
Carlton pick 23 probably gets it done. Carlton also have 41 if they need it.
GWS might be happy to take the points.
Carlton have indicated they want to use their pick 5 in the draft.

I think that it is probably a case of us preferring Steele over Marchbank as it would be difficult to get both.

Steele's currency a fair bit higher on the back of superior disposal and numbers

I'm astounded how GWS is possibly on the brink of creating a premiership a dynasty and these players want to leave.

Re: Caleb Marchbank?
Pretty basic. They aren't in the best 22. They want to play AFL footy and earn success and a lot of money. They can see that the club has a raft of early picks again this year and that their stocks may sink even further. They know there are other clubs where they are likely best 22 and who are offering them twice their current salary and a four year deal.

Its all about getting a game at that age.If GWS wins a flag and you're in the two's....Sainternist wrote:I'm astounded how GWS is possibly on the brink of creating a premiership a dynasty and these players want to leave.

Paying overs for an injured player and another struggling to make best 22.Vazelos wrote:It looks like we are going hard for Marchbank and Steele.
A 1 st round draft pick and Billy Longer for those 2 and that would be fantastic.
I would think 1st rounder for both or alternatively they are after small forwards and ruck .
Longer and Sinclair and 1st rounder (pick 10) for Steele, Marchbank and GWS 1st round pick ( guess 15?)

Re: Caleb Marchbank?
Havent Carlton just spent big on 3 KPDs in the last 2 years? Jaasch-off, Plowman and Weitering?Con Gorozidis wrote:Carlton pick 23 probably gets it done. Carlton also have 41 if they need it.

Carlton have indicated they want to use their pick 5 in the draft.
Surely they have other holes in their list?
Is SOS obsessed with KPDs?
Is it an admission that Jaasch-off, Plowman are both duds?
Surely they should be given a little more time, and they should ATM be looking at other areas on their list?

Re: Caleb Marchbank?
The other issue is this:
Surely Carlton will not give up pick 5 for him. Even for a downgrade. Not after the Jaaskch downgrade disaster where they downgraded pick 7 to 19 and took Brokhurst...
And Essendon will not give up pick 1.
I think we would give pick 10, if we can bundle in Steele, e.g. pick 10 + 46 for Marchbank +Steele. We may agree to something like that.
We may have a good hand in this... just hope he is keen on us... we have a lot going for us compared to those 2 teams, in my (biased) opinion

Re: Caleb Marchbank?
Note.. just looked up Kristian Jaaksch year:
http://www.aflplayerratings.com.au/Rati ... ian-JAKSCH
looks like they have tried to convert him into a forward ... took until the last game for him to play well at VFL level, when finally sent back...
Certainly no certainty to make it...

Re: Caleb Marchbank?
To be fair, it's not like they're missing best 22 for the Lions. They're missing best 22 in the side with the most young talent depth in the league.older saint wrote:Paying overs for an injured player and another struggling to make best 22.Vazelos wrote:It looks like we are going hard for Marchbank and Steele.

Re: Caleb Marchbank?
Carlton don't need Marchbank, they need to recruit a forward line.
They have the worst forward line in the comp, it's the equivalent of a spud farm.

How many defenders will The Saints pick in the 2024 draft ?
