that's a ridiculous rule, if they have qualified they have qualified
" A few will never give up on you. When you go back out on the field, those are the people I want in your minds. Those are the people I want in your hearts."
In the SANFL the issue is the giving of permission for players who played AFL the prior week to "drop back" to SANFL finals sides the next week - and hastening the demise of the SANFL because that competition is dictated to by AFL Clubs and their requirements, requirements which are not consistent.
In terms of those players commented on, their exclusion from VFL football means they can commence pre-season with the remainder AFL players on the List not at a date some weeks later.
With Freeman in particular that would be my agenda.
Day 1 of pre-season he is there, confident, fit and firing.
What this shows also is the relevance of State League football given the omni presence of the AFL

They failed to say this applies to teams in AFL finals, does not apply to us, only Cats and Dogs!

Surely if you've played enough games in the VFL and not too many games in the AFL to qualify then you are allowed to play regardless of what the senior team is doing. It's not like its the same round and you can't play in both leagues.
As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”
I think they make these rules up as they go.
E.g. the decision to allow Hawthorn to play McEvoy in the VFL final a couple of years ago.
The rest of Australia can wander mask-free, socialise, eat out, no curfews, no zoning, no police rings of steel, no illogical inconsistent rules.
