Interesting that we would be chasing another Key Back, must have missed out on 'One' we made a serious play for!!!!!

McKenzie is 29 next year, not sure he fits our age profile...

Thanks jaxons. Terrific report.

To satisfy GC we would have to give up Armo I think.
I also think we will be looking to trade out Longer or Holmes for a second rounder.
Would Savage get us a 2nd rounder? I think he is tradeable now we have Webster, DMac & B White down back.

I was going to guess Eastern Wood - but he's injured, and was not left out - right?

He would be an interesting acquisition and you'd think would come cheaply. Anyone know of his contract situation? Maybe we could finally sign a (non delisted) free agent. At 28 he's probably got 3 years of decent footy left in him and would provide that second big bodied, experienced defender alongside Carlisle until Goddard matures. Would indicate we're having a serious crack at the finals from next year onwards.

Reading between the lines we're also targeting Steele, O'Meara and Hoskin-Elliot. If we're considering trading two players who might each yield a second round pick I imagine one of them is Longer because frankly I can't see him being a regular player in a team that also contains Hickey, Bruce, McCartin and Membrey. I think Billy will end up being a very good player but have doubts on whether he'd be better than Hickey. Playing Holmes over the past fortnight might have been to get a better look at our backup to see if we can afford to lose Billy. Not sure at all who the other player would be. A player who would net us a second round pick has to have some value but you'd think it's someone who plays a position in which we have a surplus...Dunstan, Savage and Webster are just about the only guys I can think of who would have a bit of trade value and who might struggle to hold their position next year. I know many won't even want to talk about trading them but no one is going to be trading a second round pick for the guys who run around for Sandy most weeks.

Agreed, It would be a key back they're talking about. We are flooded with mid sized rebounders

Can tell you we are getting approaches from lots of managers via players who want to join us which is very exciting.
I will not talk about players we are trading out because it is not fair on them yet but two are under serious consideration both of which may get us approximately a second round pick each.
And in response to earlier messages will definitely not be Tom Hickey.
Steele will be a Saint for sure if he leaves GWS which is not 100% decided yet.
We are very very interested in JOM subject to a stringent medical test and are in final 3 of teams he would be happy to join.
In fact I would say if we are really satisfied with his medical he will be a Saint and we can satisfy GC and won't be selling the farm or our future, but he will cost and you must give to get.
People high up at our club think he could be the best footballer in competition when fit.
We are desperate for another backman as well and are keen on a recent b & f winner from one of the teams in the finals who was left out of his side this round.
And MC Gusto no re Laverde, we prefer WH-E from Giants for that type.
That's the update for now will try and keep all loyal Saints fans updated throughout trade period as always so you get the news first but can the moderators block people like Saynta seeing the Intel I share for loyal Saints fans?
Jaxons, I understand he has had that medical some weeks ago. Do you have any idea as to to the result?

I guess one idea might be to give McKenzie a two year deal while we develop Goddard.

He is contracted for 2017 but is definitely exploring a trade. WC may agree rather than have him leave as an RFA next year anyway.

ST is contracted and is 30.
Cant see him leaving NM now.

Why would he broadcast that here?

Well PM them you goose.

And I don't think we will be getting Steele. That is from someone ITK

Also it's no secret that Eli and Billy are being chased by a number of clubs.

Second rounders? Maybe for Billy but not for Eli.

The info about O'Meara is in the public realm anyway,

The other bits are just scuttlebutt.

Some of you are so desperate for real info you are easily satisfied.

I'm still not impressed but highly amused that the poster wants me excluded from his posts. Laughable actually.

I will stick with someone really in the know in Tony74.

Happy to trade Savage. Nice kick but I don't think he's consistent in his defending. Webster would hate to lose him.

Guys I'm staggered at the 'eat our own' mentality within our club.
I was probably guilty of my comments re Saynta as well which I regret now even though he potted me.

Hard to think of any team stupid enough to give up a 2nd round pick for Holmes. If there are any out there then the Saints should do the deal before the other team comes to its senses.
