Go after Steele. Plenty of upside there. JOM just not worth taking the risk on. Unless he's cheap! And I doubt he would be. Fantastic player 3 years ago, might be again. But might isn't good enough.

more definite news from bloke on SEN about an hour ago stating we've done some very good work behind the scenes on Jack Steele and are in pole position to secure his services.

Gotta say, I prefer the sounds of us pursuing the likes of Jack Steele over the Jaegermeister.

Steele is ours, don't worry about it.
O'Meara to the Hawks I'm pretty sure but I know were very very interested up until a few weeks ago. So we might still be in play (hope not)
I suppose money talks though.

Emma Quayle in The Age :
"Wherever he goes, O'Meara is likely to be paid well, in the $600-700,000 ballpark, one would think. Should that be the case, the Suns' demands can't be dismissed as unreasonable.
This one will be fascinating, though. How much can you responsibly offer a highly talented 22-year-old who hasn't played a game in two years, and how do you get the deal done? We have six more weeks to talk about it."

Re: So, it's Official!!!!!
If he is so good why is he playing reserves footy ? He might be an o.k player but we wont beat the likes of GWS in the future by relying on recruiting their second 22 players. We need a class midfielder and KPF now, so if O'Meara or Mitchell/Prestia etc are available we would be negligent in not pursuing them.Impatient Sainter wrote:OMeara will never make it back - Jack Steele will be an A grader garunteed!Freebird wrote:O'Meara is a gun once in a generation player if fit Steel potential to be b / c grade along with hundreds of others

Steele has played 17 senior games at age 20 at the 4th best side. It is silly to call him a 'reserves' player.evo wrote:If he is so good why is he playing reserves footy ? They will probably be the number 1 side next year. He isnt a reserves players, just a young player. Big difference. He is very good.

+ 1. Steele can be an A Grader.Sainternist wrote:Gotta say, I prefer the sounds of us pursuing the likes of Jack Steele over the Jaegermeister.
How do people realistically propose we get JOM?
Freo will offer up pick 3 and Carlton will offer up pick 5 for starters. So we need to beat that.
If the Suns insist on a gun player then who knows?
Would Fyfe for JOM + 2 top 10 picks get it done? Probably. Would be a win win.

Re: So, it's Official!!!!!
So lets get this straight. If GCS can't do a deal and JOM goes to the PSD then Effendumb not only gets the No1 pick for cheating they will also get JOM for nothing. What a great comp we play in.

Re: So, it's Official!!!!!
I have to wonder
Is O'Meara the figurative 'polished turd'?
As in - Is he being offered at 2 top ten picks so that he can be negotiated down to 1 and really the 'seller' knows that he is a lemon and wont get back on the track? Kind of like 'Shoot for double - accept par'. I feel like there is a bit of 'Used Car Salemanship going on here' - It doesn't run, has no roadworthy, but believe me - when it did run - it was a dream to drive (or so I am told)
I think the noises about what is needed to trade him are the empty vessel making the most noise!!!
Having said that - I would love to have him at the Saints - if he was firing on all cylinders, but - where are we if we don't pick him up vs where are we if we do and he fails to get on the park??? I would say risk v reward is too great and could set us back too much if he does not succeed - but then again - I lock my interest rates for 5 years.
