Dal lacks speed and defensive effort and that's what Richo is placing the greatest emphasis on.
There is no chance of Dal returning.

Can he produce week after week and can he improve at his age? He plays a few shockers and then when the blowtorch is pointed his way he shows he can be a contributor.

In 2011 imho he was the 2nd best midfielder in the comp after Gary Ablett and he carried us in games when Lenny went down with an ACL, but that was then...

He gets rid of the footy way too early these days. Too inconsistent in my book. He's lost the hunger for the contest and it's just an occupation for him nowadays imo. His silky smooth moves and his precision disposal is a thing of the past.

And Dal has more finals experience than any of them.

It's a no from me. He doesn't offer much for us at this point in our push for the grand prize, and has the massive downside of taking games away from our young players that need to build experience.

The very reason North has cut these four players.
Dal, Boomer, Petrie and Firrito
North has realised that they are not going to win a premiership this year or next.
These four players had to go because they won't be part of North's next premiership opportunity.
They are list cloggers.
But why tell the players now - the coach hopes it will inspire them to play well during the finals but the players will have to overcome their disgust first.

Their only value is to store salary cap space.
You pay them big salaries to fill out the minimum allowed under the cap.
When you find a star import you drop the veteran and still have plenty of space under the salary cap for more.
The Saints should be paying Nick Riewoldt at least 2 million just to store that salary space for later.
