3/4 of rookies never do anything at all level...surely we can make a spot without setting our recruiting back 5yrs like the fear mongers would suggest. We got nothing for him and we can get him back for nothing. Please Ameet, make it happen! Ffs he's got more to offer than 1/3 of our senior list!!

Agreed

Love the Dal

But we don't want to be a retirement home for 2010 Grand Final Players.
Would take up a spot on the rookie list and we need all development spots to develop potential players.

But - if he wants to come down and help at Sandringham....

He'd be a great pick up for Sandy - just what they need to play with the kids who are developing.

One of the reasons Essendon won the '93 flag, after missing the finals with 12 wins in '92,
was by bringing back Tim Watson, then aged 32. It wasn't that he provided much in the
way of goals or possessions, but his presence created a great vibe and he helped straighten
out the Baby Bombers on the field.
Understand your point but Tim's hardness at the contest never wained when he came back.
Dal lacks speed and defensive effort and that's what Richo is placing the greatest emphasis on.
There is no chance of Dal returning.

Don't forget that 1993 was one of the years that the Essendon Football Club, for 5 years, systematically cheated the salary cap. The AFL should have stripped them of the premiership, just like the NRL did when the Melbourne Storm rorted the salary cap. Don't fall for the baby bombers BS. The EFC are an absolute disgrace.

Rugby League would have to be the stupidest, most moronic and over rated game of all time.

Can he produce week after week and can he improve at his age? He plays a few shockers and then when the blowtorch is pointed his way he shows he can be a contributor.

In 2011 imho he was the 2nd best midfielder in the comp after Gary Ablett and he carried us in games when Lenny went down with an ACL, but that was then...

He gets rid of the footy way too early these days. Too inconsistent in my book. He's lost the hunger for the contest and it's just an occupation for him nowadays imo. His silky smooth moves and his precision disposal is a thing of the past.

Will be 33 before next season starts. Played 320 games. One year left, two at best I reckon. That said he has been remarkably durable. In 12 seasons has missed less than 10 games through injury. We could rookie him I guess, but definite no to a place on the primary list. There's also a 'back to the old way' flavour about it. Would rather a young fella had the spot.

I know this is not playing fair, but is it true that Dal Santo translates as "of the Saints"?

One thing's for sure ... Roo and Joey would want him back for one (or two) last finals campaign(s).
And Dal has more finals experience than any of them.

As a DFA any club that wants him can get him for free.

Let's all pray that it is not with the Dons!

Suns need some classy old hands.

Hawks if they do not decide to go rebuild mode would consider-they love good ball users.

Cats would also not surprise as they are clearly in major top up mode.

Taking games away from young players.
The very reason North has cut these four players.
Dal, Boomer, Petrie and Firrito
North has realised that they are not going to win a premiership this year or next.
These four players had to go because they won't be part of North's next premiership opportunity.
They are list cloggers.
But why tell the players now - the coach hopes it will inspire them to play well during the finals but the players will have to overcome their disgust first.

Their only value is to store salary cap space.
You pay them big salaries to fill out the minimum allowed under the cap.
When you find a star import you drop the veteran and still have plenty of space under the salary cap for more.
The Saints should be paying Nick Riewoldt at least 2 million just to store that salary space for later.

If ever you wanted to know the difference between an employee and a contractor you only need to look at the manner in which Norf handled these 4 contractors.
