I don't agree re his speed but yes he does need to muscle up a bit.
His speed over 15 metres is fine.
Club is aware of his need to muscle up and have had him on a strict weights program and diet - check out his upper body today and you'll see he is already starting to rip up

Yeh I don't think he's slow on the lead either. Seems to get off his defender fine.
Obviously has some body composition work to do, but he already looks to have gained a fair amount of weight since being recruited.

Good point - I don't think he actually has to do either.
I think they love his size and strength just send to get rid of his puppy fat which shouldn't take too long at all.

And yet he had 2 goals by quarter time against arguably the best key defender in the comp.how many would he have had ,had he played the whole game?. Tigers thought enough of him to put their best defender on him.
Incredibly unlucky this year with injury / concussion . Has a lot of upside and if he can stay on the park is a real chance to kick 50 next year.

[Of his two goals] ..... The first he completely out positioned Rance, and ended up taking the ball in a perfect mark, then put the kick straight over the goal umpires hat from 40 odd out, the second, he put his body on the line, won a dubious free kick, and slotted a dead straight goal in obvious pain. Both kicks dead straight, on a day that no-one, except dead eye dick Membrey, could manage straight kicking in front of goal.
IN TEN MINUTES OF FOOTBALL this kid was still the highest goal kicker on the day (a shared honour).
Extrapolate his AF points out - 1/2 a quarter of football - 2 kicks, one mark, one goal - 22 AF points - a full game - on track for 176 AF points. I am not saying that he would have kicked 16 goals - but with the amount of forward entries (51) he would have been the focal point of many of them.
Let me say it again - 10 minutes on the field - 2 kicks - 2 goals - highest goal scorer on the day (from both teams [equal to Rioli and Membrey][beating the likes of Riewoldt x 2 and Bruce]) - most accurate kicking efficiency (100%) and, and, and - on a day that the rest of the team managed a goal kicking efficiency of - get this 27.27%
Paddy you star - you managed in 10 minutes - what only 2 other people managed in 120 minutes
Paddy - today you showed the footy world that next year we will be talking about you as the dominant forward of the next 10 years!!!!!!
Go you good thing!!!

He is too slow and unfit. Hopefully a big off season and he returns with an AFL body. He's shown more than enough to know that we have an absolute star in the making as long as he can get himself fit. Plugger mk 2.
He doesn't have the tank to make two repeat leads of 30m one after the other at the moment. That would be really handy for him to have so he does need to increase his running capacity a little bit.
As far as his weight goes, let's leave him a monster. Naturally he is a very big boy and it's probably pretty hard for him to lose weight - muscle or fat. Why have him on a restricted diet (which greatly impacts how well you can train) when the opportunity cost is that he could be building power?
There is this idea at the moment that every footballer needs to lose weight so they can run all day....midfielders, maybe, but key forwards only need to run as much as they need to run. Get him doing some low volume squats and deadlifts and building power instead of endurance. He only needs half a metre clear on his opponent the way they stick in his hands and the way he takes the ball with arms outstretched and that will come from power, not being light and running the 'tan.
He was on the way to kicking 10 yesterday. Reminds me of Maxy Hudghton in his early career.... Just goes soooooo hard at the footy, to his own detriment. When he finally gets 3-4 months of continuous AFL footy under his belt.... look out!!! I love how he knows how to use his size and strength... so many players today have no idea how to move people with their hips.
BigMart wrote:Are we serious about extrapolating in a game of footy... Does every first quarter output just get x 4??
Very silly thing to say
I think
Yesterday he started well... He's started many games well
He is not afl fit and blind freddy can see that
He kicked 2 in the first 10 minutes. Can't do much more than that. He might not have kicked another one, he may have got his first bag. We will never know.
One thing is certain. The boy can play.

Seriously - that's what you take from my rant!!!!
The kid will be a star - I am sick of people crapping on our players - he is a young star in the making - He was the most dominant player on the ground - and if he was not injured he would have either:
Kicked a bag
Freed up someone else to be the go to player.
He was massive
I think he was BOG even if he only played 10 minutes

No, Playon, your comment was truly rubbish. You either did not see the incident or do not have any appreciation of how football is played.
And you do??
It should have been a free kick against Paddy. You can't dive on the ball and take out your opponents legs. Was an obvious free and he was very lucky to get away with it. I too love his tenacity at the contest, but he simply has to get smarter, and I agree with the poster that said he needs to get fitter and develope an AFL body. Kosi's career was largely disappointing, mainly due to injuries. There's simply no value in the kid leaving the field before half time every week
1) calling him a star at 19yo and 20 odd goals in about 18 games
2) comparing him in anyway to Tony Lockett (who btw had kicked nearly 150 goals in 40 odd games at the same age)
Both completely unfair on him
It's obvious he can play... At this stage is promising ... That's all

You can!
I think he is a star!
He plays footy for the Tri Colours!
He can take a great grab
He can kick a straight goal
In my book that makes him a star
Will he eclipse Tony Lockett - I doubt it - he was a once in a lifetime talent!
But a Star Paddy is!!!!
You call him promising - I call him a star!
Its a bloody long off season - and Paddy is one of the guys I am looking forward to seeing in 2017!!!!!

It took Hawkins (Cats) a few seasons to get the puppy fat off his body and Patton (GWS) is only beginning to get a toned, muscled body....... he still needs to get more puppy fat off him yet IMHO.
It would be a fine line getting , diet and exercise right for Paddy with his diabeties.
