The facts were that St kilda were interested in Hurley, so don't shoot the messenger.

The thing is that nobody new what Hurley wanted, only suspected he wanted to remain a Bomber. But a due process had to be followed and we would be negligent if we didnt chase required players and do our homework.

So in the end Stonecold made an early call and it didnt pan out. the club would also thinking oh well it didn't work out for us so move on. and as far as early calls go how did the Carlisle trade go? Right down to the wire in the final hour.

We always have several targets in mind, some we win some we don't and that doesn't mean we weren't interested. especially this early in the trade season.

So good on you stonecold for sticking with your guns, and it was certainly earlier than any in the press came out with

Very easy to celebrate missing out, but I'm disappointed. Hurley would have been a great get. Quality players dont grow on trees, and despite us now being "a destination club", there aren't many banging down the door.

Saints withdrew offer, not sure why, but we withdrew, as did Demons apparently!!!!!

We forced Essendope to pay big dollars to retain Hurley.
5 year extension worth $4 million.
That is a small win as payback for their lying over Lovett, lying over what they gave to Carlisle and forcing us to give up pick 6 (ultimately).
We would have had to pay Essendon big to get him anyhow.

Although they are still in circulation they have stopped minting 5 cents coins recently.
Shortly the minimum coin in circulation will be 10 cents.
