Worse was the one not given to Gilbert when the ball was returned to the umpires feet.
He was given no warning or instruction he may have been over the mark. How many times in a game do you hear an umpire say, "come back a metre", or something similar. They even blow the whistle to stop the game while the man on the mark complies. Yes, Roberton was over by a couple of metres at worst, but the arrogant little flog just immediately waved him back to the goal line. Didn even look at Robbo. No wonder they get no respect. If they were çonsistent they would've had to pay 40 similar ones on the night.
Well I looked at it and thought it was 50. Roberton just meandered over the mark by about 4m and he was only about 2m away when McVeigh marked it so no excuse. I guess the umpire could have been lenient but if it had of been the other way around I'd be wanting and expecting 50.
There were some really bad decisions on the night, but I don't think that was one of them.

Not one.
The ones they did show were actually disgraceful decisions from other games. What was once our game has become a farce.
I wont be watching any of the finals, they can go and get f***ed
On the contrary. There were a stack of them but even they knew they couldn't justify/spin their way out of them and they're not going to admit they were wrong. So they just do their usual thing and sweep it under the carpet.
Still waiting for closure ... if you get my drift.
Get the feeling that whatever was said to Umpire Dicholls to make him award the Papley 50m (first 50m) sent him off the deep end as from that point a prejudice and a preconception to punish us took hold which affected his ability to maintain impartiality.
Of course impartiality is non-negotiable when it comes to umpiring performances hence why he should be reprimanded on review because it was very obvious that he was looking to penalise us irrespective of the situation.
Is very disappointing to watch as a fan of the game - no matter which side is playing
The 50 metre is a blight on the game but they won't ever return to the 25 metre penalty as would be common sense. A 50 is way too much penalty for trivial s***.
I was really enjoying this whole season after the Bummers were suspended finally. Even watched lots of other games out of interest. Now I feel sick in the guts after the disgusting umpiring. I haven't watched a non Saints Gf since 2004 anyway so won't be starting anytime soon. And now I will watch zero finals. The bye before the finals is an idiotic idea too. The NRL will be pissing themselves laughing.

Umpire Dicholls should have gone to Robbo and showed him the mark, brought him back and lined up McVeigh - standard officiating - he wasnt even close to doing that - considering McVeigh was a dead cert to have a shot it was grossly incompetent and smacked of self righteous conceit to immediately award the 50 because it was undoubtedly preconceived in Umpire Dicholls bloated egotistical mind to ream us in any which way he could.
You wont hear me complaining about that one - but I will admit it was harsh - but are you seriously saying that we are even in the 'bad decision' stakes???????
As has been previously discussed, if it gets any more obvious the disparity between frees given in the forward fifty, our forwards will need to bring their own lube to the game.

Well, I was near the NM cheer squad. They didn't think much of it. It was a pretty harsh call. Like Robbo's, technically there, but harsh, with no warning or leeway given. Two wrongs don't make a right and all that........
I started with nothing and I've got most of it left!

It was a 50 every day of the week. Umpire was spot on, even though we hated it. Robbo was being a smart arse and still sooking over the first one awarded against him. He clearly intentionally walked nearly 4 or 5 meters over the mark and started trying to mark out a spot. He knew what he was doing. He was dragged I think straight away. He lost the plot in that 5 minutes unfortunately. Coaches wouldn't have been impressed.

What a bunch of bitchy whiny whingers in this thread.
One day when your a bit older and bit more mature You will realise it really doesn't matter. At all.
But back to screaming blue murder about umpires. Of course it's all their fault. Pathetic.

Now you're getting the hang of it. When you're older and a bit more mature, you'll realise that whining and bitching on the Internet shouldn't matter to anyone. It only upsets you if you let it. A bit like poor umpiring. Pot, kettle, black and all that.
