I'm going to say it. Jack Steven, Brownlow Medallist.

Post: # 1627278Post White Winmar »

With apologies to RODOS, who started a similar thread in April (someone PM me instructions to bump a post or thread, please), but I have to finally believe that Jack can actually win the Brownlow. For real. Not just in our dreams. Not just because he plays for the Saints. Not just because our emotions and love of him as a player cloud our judgement. No, this is it. Time to break this great club's eighteen year long Brownlow drought. Time for the boy from the " Geelong Falcons Football Factory from down the Great Ocean Road in Lorne", to step up on the podium and fulfil his destiny ( I bet you didn't know he was from Lorne, did you? No one ever mentions it in commentary, or carries on adnauseum about it, thinking it is funny to do so).

He's been threatening to do so for a couple of years now. There's always one more piece of the puzzle to add in the past. Even on this forum, there were quite a few who thought he'd never be elite. Some even suggested he was a dud. You know who you are! This year, and in particular the last couple of months, he has filled in any of the remaining "holes" in his game, not that there were many. Numbers don' tell the full story, but even going by just them, it makes a compelling case for victory. It's frightening to think he's still got five games in which he can further his cause. The way he's going, he may end up with all fifteen votes still on offer. One of his direct opponents, the Bont, wouldn't have even gained on him last night, despite how good he was at times.

I know Dangerwood will both be favourites because of their electrifying starts and Sloane and Mitchell have their admirers, but Jack's coming home down the strait, Kiwi 1983 style. And like the great horse, I'm confident he'll catch and pass the field before the finish. He represents outstanding value at $26 for those of you who love a punt. Roo is at $151. I might just break a lifetime of anti-betting and have a few sheckles on the boy from the Geelong Falcon's football factory from down the Great Ocean Road in Lorne.

I started with nothing and I've got most of it left!

He won't win the brownlow this year but he is by far our best player (apologies to Roo who has been our best for a long time). The scary thing is he still has room to improve.

Still one whole quarter of the season to go, Milney. Like a team still trailing at 3/4 time, but with all the momentum, he has the chance to run over the top of the opposition. Dustin "chopsticks" Martin, didn't help Jack's cause today. Got another 38 touches, apparently.

I thought the same thing for the first time today but then I remembered Geelong has a recruit who's going ok too.

Still waiting for closure ... if you get my drift.

There ard 5 games we wont poll a vote in
Dogs 1
Giants
Eagles
Crows
Suns
We have won or been competitive in all other games and Jack will poll in many of the other 12 games including many 3 votes.

He has 5 games left to sow it up.

Thanks for the shout out, and nice post. Really taking the comp by the scruff of the neck is Jack! Guess that's what you get when you mispronounce a person's name for their entire career.

Come on jackyboy! Finish off strong and make Rodos look like a genius.

Agree Jack will poll well in the Brownlow.

What chance of Riewoldt for All Australian on the wing?

Hickey may poll well too

Don't reckon Danger will poll enough, Selwood will pinch too many?

This has to indicate that he has a chance:

Geez Pendlebury is a surprise. Watched him last week and he was horrible. Maybe injured. But to be fair that is the first game I watched him.

Jack Stevens is my favourite player, an absolute Jet!!
I look forward to him enjoying quality support as opposed to the last 2 years playing in bottom teams.
Next 4 years will be interesting!!

Seems to be going through the motions this season. I am surprised he is so high in those ratings. He is a good player but dont think he is going 100% this year. Not even close.
