having said that the Cheats may have a good side next year...certainly better than ours atm. We just don't have the intensity every week. Josh Bruce....?? will he find the right position and improve?
Intensity.

That's it right there, one word.

Only a handful play like they don't like losing each week.

Well right off the bat Ross and Newnes come off that list as they are trajecting upwards
Acres clearly doesn't have the fitness
Dunstan is lagging but I still reckon he'll come good.

My question... Is Armitage playing like the A-Grade mid we need him to be?

Trade him
Armitage won't be going anywhere, he is not one I would be trading.
Think you'll find he's joking. Unless he wants his brother to leave.

Not sure how you can keep Dunstan in the team next week.

Thought it was one of Dunstans better games.

And that's the issue

Again 7 kicks
His average - for a midfield that is unacceptable

He hasn't the pace to get clear, all possessions are flat footed.

He had a good second half against a VFL team
Given his position
Would Eli, Minchington, Sinclair got more kicks (metres gained)?

Yes we were horrible today, but it could have been a lot worse. Half way through the last quarter , when they were 7 points up and on a roll, we supporters at the game faced the real prospect of skulking away at the end while those Dons supporters sang their theme song multiple times. Instead we got a superb spoil from Geary, composure from Membrey, and Hickey and Steven fantastic in the middle , and we won a game that last year we would have lost. So at the end we heard the beautiful twin musical delights of the Saints theme song and the Bombers supporters booing the umpires . A win will sit a lot better at work tomorrow than a loss. I know that is probably an overly-positive way of viewing the match , and I am bitterly disappointed with the performance ... But just imagine how bad it would be to face the football world this week if we had lost .

So we got away with it

I'd have preferred the ramifications of what it deserved!!!

Falling over the line against Essendon is NOT a win IMO
Certainly wouldn't be proud or happy with that s*** because we happened to win... In fact they lost... Their lack of talent cost them victory

Judging by the looks in the coaches box after the game I think the match review will be brutal. Did not look impressed at all.

I'm pretty sure the Hawks supporters weren't sooking about squeaking home against us earlier this year by 3 points - and they're the reigning premiers!

Granted, today we were very ordinary, but still somehow found a way to win against a very good and committed Essendon side with their tails up.
That's an improvement on last year, and tonight will be a good wake up call to most of the boys.

The farking hawks are going for their fourth straight flag…

We have 18 wins from our past 60 games under richo and that was just putrid stuff against a VFL quality opponent.

No-one should be proud of that win…

Sure does but we can only play(beat) who the AFL in their "draw" give us :)

Agreed! I'm far from proud, that's for sure, but a win is a win no matter how putrid IMO.

I'm just trying to view the result from a different perspective, otherwise it all gets too depressing.
