Pbly have to give it to Hickey...
I watched him play forward in the losing PreLim for Sandy last season.
He sucked. I thought he was trade bait

Re: Poll. Most improved
Yeah I found it hard to choose too that's why I started the poll. All three were no certainty to be top 22 players but all are now. Membrey's two bags of 5 are massive.
Hickey has dominated games and never really been beaten
Ross has constantly pulled good numbers
I went with Hickey.

Re: Poll. Most improved
What a surprise....not!!!
It's not rocket science. When we recruit these guys it's all based on potential and unless you give these guys opportunities how in the hell can you just make a call when they first start playing? You have to expect ups and downs and inconsistency when they're young and haven't played 50 or so games.
All 3 blokes have had their doubters, but Ross was the one that has surprised me most.
I voted for Members however because his graph is parabolic

Could be a dead heat. All 3 weren't regulars, now all 3 are winning us games. Couldn't be happier.

Re: Poll. Most improved
3 of our best 5 today
After giving not much last year...
Hickey has shown he can play well at th elevel, Ross built slowly but surely... For mine, Membry cam from furthest back so I voted for him
Ross's speed and spread have improved out of sight though, I guess from increasing his tank
Now a very very good player

Re: Poll. Most improved
Hickey - definitely - Ross has been steadily improving, Membrey has always 'had it' just has not had the chance to 'show it' Hickey went from a 2nd ruck, possible trade bait to keeping Longer out of the team and is only going to get better!!!!

Re: Poll. Most improved
I'd say Hickey but just.
He had injuries last year that held him back
Ross has stepped up this year with more responsibility in the midfielf this year
Membrey also now a year older and is more confident in his role, has always shown the ability i think, but now more consistent.

Re: Poll. Most improved
Tough to split. I went Members even though he's just getting started.
I thought Hickey has been good for a year or more, just hasn't had a chance.
Ross is the greatest and most pleasant surprise. He was touted as having a big year in 2015 before he got injured. But thank heavens he's absolutely kicking arse this year!

Re: Poll. Most improved
I went Ross. He is the one I thought wouldn't make it. I thought Hickey always showed enough potential to shine and was not really given a fair go last year.
Membrey also showed he had something at various times. Ross has made me eat my words with a stand-out year. I really didn't think he had what it takes or the necessary skills....boy was I wrong on that one!

To my way of thinking you could always tell Ross was going to make it. Ditto hickey if he was given a fair chance.

Re: Poll. Most improved
Wow this is hard. Ross has been slowly building. Hickey had shown glimpses and Membrey only just turned 22.
I guess I always expected Ross and Hickey to be good and they were highish draft picks.
Membrey was pigeon holed as being an 'in between size' and some had written him off. So for me it has to be Membrey.
He has gone from 'probably wont make it' - to sign him for three years! I no longer worry about his 'in between' size. The guy is a god damn very good football player.
Membrey is a guy who probably ought not be that good in theory. In reality he is a very football player and a real craftsman the way he plays and works on his game.
I now put Membrey in the Robbie Gray category. All the 'experts' and recruiters were too busy focusing on theoretical reasons why they wouldn't make it and ignoring the facts staring at them in the face - that they are just very good players.

Re: Poll. Most improved
One of the most improved aspects is Seb's pace.
He really seems a few yards quicker and is even running away from people.
I assume it's a reflection of his greater fitness (and his seeming slowness before was a reflection of how knackered he was) but he has improved his speed remarkably.

I thought Membrey was just a lead up mark and would be shown up because of his height but he's looking like a 40 goal a season third tall.
Will hopefully get even better - especially in a few years when Paddy is the backmens main focus.

Re: Poll. Most improved
Ross for mine. He's genuinely taken his game to another level, beyond anything he'd really shown before.
Hickey had shown a few patches of what he was capable, a quarter here and there. Now he's just putting those quarters of it together, and full games of it too.
Membrey is getting on the end of a few, capitalising on some good work up the ground. "Right place, right time" sort of thing. I'd love to see him start creating more chances when things aren't going our way, I still think he has another level to grow to.

Thanks for voting everyone. It looks like it's Ross by the smallest of margins.

Re: Poll. Most improved
Great thread – I left Australia prior to the 2005 season and have not seen a game since. Try to keep in touch with the goings on at the Saints and use Saintsational for my St.Kilda fix each week. Really is enormous to read so many opinions about 3 very different players who it appears are vital to our continued improvement and growth. A real big THANK YOU to All. Go SAINTS.

Hickey was badly beaten against Adelaide recently. Membrey and Ross have been good consistently.
