McCartin has shown enough that he will be a very very good forward, if not the best in the AFL in 3 or 4 yrs time

He's slow at VFL level... I'm not sure he can be a defender?

He's so heavy, he looks like he's running in sand... I'd strip a few kgs off him

Didn't flick your Ali thread. Merged it with the other one that was already started in Opposition and General Sports Discussion forum. Your thread was a duplicate.

Definitely needs to fine down. Has the turning circle of the Queen Mary, which is a bit of a worry for a defender. Also he's a player that goes to ground a lot when beaten in a contest, that IMHO needs to be coached out of him.

Hopefully his injury isn't as bad as it seems, as a year out could dent the confidence at this stage of his development.

Was that Mum sitting with him on the boundary line ? She had her hand on his thigh and patting him like a mum does to little kid who has fallen over and hurt himself. Strange??????

I think it was his mum, it looked like her.
He was touted as our next big KPD, I hope he recovers and gets up

As far as I am concerned - McCartin is a certainty. Just looks like he knows what he is doing. Sure we all know he isnt phsyically ready yet and he needs a couple more pre-seasons but he is a natural footy player.

On the other hand - and it is very early days - Goddard just looks like a huge bloke who plays footy. Clearly his main attribute is his size.

Time for Lee to show something.
You need to lay him for him to do that

He might need to go to the Dustin Fletcher school of skinny defenders.

St Kilda GM - Football Performance Jamie Cox said Goddard’s surgery went according to plan on Thursday night, plotting the first milestone in what is set to be a long comeback for the 2014 first round pick.

“Hughie’s surgery went to plan, with the surgeon happy with the procedure,” Cox told saints.com.au on Friday afternoon.

“He’s a resilient young man who has coped with this disappointing setback so impressively.

“We are confident he will approach his rehabilitation with professionalism and diligence, and will have the full support of the club throughout his recovery period.”
