It needs to be said - Allan Richardson is not the coach to take the Saints to a flag. I will be surprised if the club even play finals during his time!

Young team and still needs structural work. No silver bullets.
Re: Match day thread - Saints v Crows
Where has our intensity at the opposition gone? They are running rings around us and not for the first time this season.
Sometimes it looks like we don't even want the ball - just after Paddy got injured, the ball came back out to our 50, 1-on-1, with another Saints player nearby. All it takes is a fist on the ball and we're in with a chance. Instead, our bloke doesn't even touch the ball, easy mark and they're away again.
And our decision making when we actually have the ball is disgusting.

Hard not to question Richo after another demoralising loss, performances like this really question the amount of development we have actually made under Richo

Bolton n Beveridge have the goods. Richo just overuses words like "Strong" and "positive"Impatient Sainter wrote:It needs to be said - Allan Richardson is not the coach to take the Saints to a flag. I will be surprised if the club even play finals during his time!
I have a strong feeling, actually I'm positive, that he is not a good coach.
WCE, Dogs, now today. Rubbish.

Re: Match day thread - Saints v Crows
the problem with relying on the older players is that when one of your important players or defenders goes down the whole team suffers. i can't understand why the fuckn rebuild keeps stalling. Goddard should have been introduced against lesser competition and should've been given at least a couple of more games before today. i love chips and shinner and joey and roo, but the longer these guys and gilbo stay in the team the longer it will take for us to climb the ladderDevilhead wrote:Stupid farking article during the week

It needs to be discussed IMHO.St Igmata wrote:How is it Richardsons fault exactly?
How is he doing any better than say the Brissy coach?
Selection is consistently strange, the midfield is never tinkered with even though it's deplorable, the kids are flat and almost depressed they are so devoid of confidence right now, I could only name about 5 guys that have progressed under him in recent months....rest have gone backwards.
My biggest concern is was supposed to be the developer of the youth.

We're nowhere near the teams that have beaten us and we've injury problems tonight. Blaming the coach is ridiculous. If you must scapegoat start with the recruiting department. We're v slow and our skills are poor.

I've started having terrible flashbacks from the '97 Granny so I've switched it off to preserve what's left of my sanity.

Buck stops with the coach as simple as that.. Even if we go out and beat carlton next week it all means nothing with performances like this today.. Even more disappointing than the west coast game as it now is obvious it wasn't a one offSt Igmata wrote:How is it Richardsons fault exactly?

Re: Match day thread - Saints v Crows
Last year we gave Carlton their first win of the season. Casboult killed us as did Cripps and strong in and out midfielder. The regulars in their side also contributes to a 40 point win.desertsaint wrote:meh. result was a foregone conclusion. dogs, giants, eagles, crows - pattern there - which means we should look great winning next week! guys just don't step up in challenging games interstate, with the strange exception of hawthorn. perhaps after that game they wondered why they bothered?
not too fussed as we are a bottom six side and blowouts happen. team isn't good enough or mature enough to perform consistently. minds probably more focused on the winnable game next week. hopefully they put in a bit of fight in the second.
What makes you think we can get up for this one? Given their form I would say they have pencilled in their 8 th win.
Melbourne and Carlton are making us look silly. I don't care that we beat Melbourne all the time, it means nothing if we cant win 2 in a row and end up finishing 4 wins less for th season (likely on current effort). Its bloody dispappointing and the club needs to bring out the psychologists why the team doesn't match other developing teams performance. Its not acceptable. Heads need to roll nect week until they show they cant show the consistency in the twos before returning. Fail to do so and the delisting needs further consideration because they aren't providing he effort or are not good enough, lets face it.
Midfield clearances and clear winners are needed to make an effective forward line.
