I'm not buying on this one.

We have Carlisle and Goddard coming through. We need mids more and Hurley won't come cheap.
Anyway, isn't one of the reasons Carlisle was unhappy at Essendon (besides the drug regime) was because they tried to make him a fwd because Hurley plays better as a backman.

The Dons have had surprising success to getting their banned players to recommit and even if Hurley wanted out and nominated the Saints as his preferred destination, the Dons would want our first pick (which will probably be a top 5 pick again) and that pick is surely destined for mid?

After the drug bans, aren't the players officially out of contract anyway and Essendon have no grounds for compensation!? Or has this been changed? The players are free agents, Essendon lost their rights once they cheated, surely they don't get 1st round picks in return after all of this!!

Not surprising at all... Dons have agreed to compensate the players for their drug taking, so no doubt the offer is look.... if you stay with us we will give you more compensation Han if you leave.. Sorta like "were offering you a $600,000 contract but there's an extra 400,000 over two years in the compo deal".
The AFL want them back on top mark my words they will come out smelling roses. This will be under the table money using a new guise...

ESSENDON CEO Xavier Campbell will meet with Michael Hurley's management later this week as speculation about the key defender's future heats up.

Hurley remains contracted with Essendon until the end of 2017, however, he is yet to deliver a commitment to the Bombers that he will return next season.

Several Victorian AFL clubs contacted by AFL.com.au on Tuesday believe Hurley will not leave Essendon to join another Victorian club.

Would cost too much and not what we need unless coaches feel HG isnt going to be AFL standard. We do need a few more defender types but would rather try to find an Marcus Adams type via rookie (unlikely) or pick one up later in the draft. We need quality midfielders desperately over quality defenders.

Stonecold has been hot on the rumours over the years. I reckon he has earnt some credits on that basis. So he missed on Heppell - but if this is some thing he has picked up - it is exciting. Hurley grew up a saints supporter, no doubt he is pissed at what happened at Essendrug fc.

Fisher and dempster on last legs - imagine a defensive unit with Hurley, Carlisle & Goddard. Webster, Geary, Savage, Newmes etc.
