Re: Sam Gilbert
Why didn't he go down the guts for the kick in?
Good game by him but poor decision to kick to the pocket.

Had a few clangers but generally had a good game today. One of his better games in recent years I thought.

If so that was wrong. Needed someone to go the barrel. Richo acknowledged that we didn't take the right option. Definitely should have been Savage to kick in

In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

Re: Sam Gilbert
Well, Gilbert was universally very high in our best players - and rightly so.
Those under pressure are Geary, Lonie, Minchington, Gresham, Webster and Weller who were all serious under performers today.
We lost the clearances early putting pressure on a defence which held up very well against taller opposition thanks to magnificent games from Fisher, Dempster and Gilbert.
The clearances stabilised then we got on top creating opportunities in our forward line - where they had numbers back and where, unfortunately, our smaller forwards had no impact whatsoever.
If there is one player in the AFL I have absolutely no regard for it is the near 40 year old from NM - he is the dirtiest most under handed sniper to have ever played the game - and he was at it again today as usual. Then crying to the "Umpires" along with the other serial cry baby, Swallow.
What you need to do with "him" is to tell him how ugly his wife is (statement of fact both in looks and personality) and have him focussing on chasing you around trying to knock your head off - as Jones used to do to him resulting in him never having a kick against us when Jones was in the side.
It was set up to tell "him" exactly about his reputation by quarter time - because his filthy, off the ball sniping resulted in the reaction to "him" at quarter time.
When he was reported as saying to Gresham that he was going to give him one to go on with, the turd was not joking - that is what he does then runs crying to the Umpires.
The sooner he is gone from Australian Rules Football the better

Top 5 in our B&F right now and trending towards top 3.
Outstanding game and an excellent season to date.
Justifying his gun classification.

Re: Sam Gilbert
Firstly, how do you put Geary and Webster in the in danger category, both were excellent today, Geary was unpassable at half back and websters disposal off half back and his agression, tackling and first second and third efforts were just inspirational. To the top wrote:Well, Gilbert was universally very high in our best players - and rightly so.

Secondly, slagging a players wife off to get a reaction is just putrid and a s*** thing to do. I would be filthy if we resorted to that on a footy field to gain advantage

Re: Sam Gilbert
Chips screamed at Sav to take the kick in but was ignored by Sav (who ran to give Gilbo a short option). It looked to me like most of our blokes ran to the flanks to give options rather than get numbers up the middle.

Re: Sam Gilbert
Surely this is a joke? He isnt ranked in the top 200 players in the AFL on any objective measure by any independent source at all. What is your definition of 'gun'? If by 'gun' you mean top 300 in the AFL - then yes he is a 'gun'.Sobraz wrote:Top 5 in our B&F right now and trending towards top 3.

Would not be in our top 10 in the B & F this year. In fact, he has not been in the top 10 in Saints B & F since 2010 (3rd) so cannot possibly still be classified as a 'gun'. Yes he had a good game on Sunday - and well done to him - yes he was a gun back in 09/10 - but lets not have cognitive dissonance about the last five years. If you jave not been in a club top 10 b & f one single time in five years then you are no longer a gun. I am not sure anyone can argue otherwise with a straight face.

Re: Sam Gilbert
Again using bulls*** stats to try and prove a point!! Gilbert has been destroyed by injury sine 2012. He only played 26 out of a possible 66 games from 2013 to 2015, pretty hard to finish in the top 10 of the B&F if you're not on the park. He has proven that, when fit, hie is easily in our top 10 players.Con Gorozidis wrote:Surely this is a joke? Re: Sam Gilbert
I'd love for you to list 10 players who have had a better season up to round 7 then?Con Gorozidis wrote: Would not be in our top 10 in the B & F this year.
By my reckoning he's had one terrible game against the Dogs in round 2 (absolutely not on his own there) and an average game against the Hawks round 4.
Exceptional rounds 1, 3 and 7, broke even round 5 and had a good game round 6 v the Demons.
As it stands right now only Roo, Seb, Steven and Hickey are certainly having better seasons. Joey at about the same level.
So, again, name the other 5 players who've been better than Gilbo this year?
