Gresham is indigenous through his mother’s side and mum Michelle was thrilled to see him model the Saints’ new indigenous strip and the chance to watch her son play AFL on Mother’s Day.

THE night before Jade Gresham’s first pre-season game for St Kilda, his dad Jamie’s phone rang.

Flashing on the screen was “Brent Harvey” and the message from the North Melbourne champion was as blunt as it was cheeky.

“He told dad he was going to give me one,” Gresham told the Herald Sun.

True to his word, Harvey delivered the Saints’ top draft pick a “little cheapie” in the guts and then posed for a photo with the indigenous ball magnet after the clash at Wangaratta.

The pair will again share a footy field, 21 years after Harvey and Jamie Gresham played in a Northern Knights premiership together.

“Dad told him I’ll give him one back, so I’m not sure what he’s going to do (on Sunday), but it should be good fun,” Gresham said.

Had a pretty good game - 13 possies. There was one bit of play in the middle in heavy traffic where he did a brilliant little side step to get out of trouble. You can see the maneuverability he will have with his low centre of gravity and thick little legs. Needs to work on using it better but that will come with more games and composure. He looks the sort to be a sneaky goal scorer too.

I loved his last quarter, he was obviously told to take the game on and he went for it. Should be a beauty.
