Unfortunately, this screams volumes. 8 points out of 30 allocated to St Kilda. Don't get me wrong - I loved the game, loved the ferociousness, loved the younger guys, but Port had just that next level of polish on us. Polish that shone out as our endeavour tired. I look forward to the (hopefully very near) future when we are demanding more than half the points allocated to coaches votes.

That being said - well done Hickey and Stevo - may you soon have company in the coaches votes.

Of the 30 votes, we need to be getting at least 50% - if not 60% and more.

When we are getting by far the the greater majority of these votes (and Brownlow and media votes) we will know we have the cattle.

Because then we will have a core of players who are impacting on the positive results of games

From my calculations it would appear that other than Grey (10 votes) the 2 coaching panels viewed the game quite differently in terms of who they thought were the most effective players.

St Kilda’s comprehensive performance against Collingwood on Saturday has been reflected in the Coaches Association votes, with the Saints earning a clean sweep from Alan Richardson and Nathan Buckley.

Leigh Montagna’s brilliant performance from a back flank has been rewarded with nine votes.

The Saints stalwart collected the fourth highest disposal count of his 252-game career with 40 disposals, to go with 745 metres gained (2nd most for Round 3), 14 score involvements and seven inside 50s.

Geez. This is a bit silly. Gray got 10/30 and was in a league of his own and clearly a major contributor to the win. Of the next 20 votes we got 8. Pretty much on the ball as I see it. If we didnt fade out we would have got a few more.
