An easy win against weak opposition but another absolutely bog ordinary game from Gilbert. Just a non-entity these days. He was good in 2009/10 but people need to concede he is simply nowhere near that level anymore. Not close. Hasnt been for a long time.

Played really well and his disposal was very good. Not sure what game you are talking about?
I don't think Melbourne have been ordinary this year. I didn't think the Saints could beat them especially after last weeks effort against GWS.

Only the one tackle asll. 'Really well' is a huge exaggeration. Some people really have the blinkers on with Gilbo. They still see 09/10 Gilbo in their minds. He was just ordinary again. As usual. Not terrible. But just a gop. There are still those claiming he is a 'gun'. It is embarrassing.

17 disposals from the back half is pretty decent. No frees against. Some people are biased as well.

So sad Con, we have a great win, but see need to bump a thread froma week ago to bag yet another player

Some supporters find it impossible to enjoy the moment

Pathetic really

Great game Gilbo. Disposal was first class today. Needed to as last week it was terrible. Thats the way to bounce back.

Played as a defensive mid today. (on their 'poor imitation of Roo') and did well to limit Watts' effectiveness.

Gilbert was great today. Played some tough roles and played them well. Probably needed 40 touches and 5 goals to impress some though.

I think he's having a great year. He's done well adjusting to a midfield role.

You are fast becoming a flog Con, Gilbo got 17 disposals at 94% effecency, we have a great win and you think it necessary to bump a thread to bag him. What a joke.

Back in a defensive role Sam Gilbert worked hard and was hard at it to boot as most posters who went to the game have been quick to acknowledge. Pretty sure you weren't there though Con. Wasn't that you in the rooms at Punt Rd helping big bad Tom Lee put on his jockstrap?
Big win today with our ruckman trouncing the form ruck of the comp and two young players having far and away their best game but not enough for some.

To be fair, I don't think having one good game negates all of Gilbert's past errors this year (although a few more games at his kicking efficiency will more than make up for that) but the issue here is he has played a fantastic game with the whole team and it seemed unnecessary to bump a past thread knocking the guy when we should be making a new threat hoping he keeps this blistering form up. It doesn't matter what Sam Gilbert did in 2010/11/12 or any other past year. What matters is this year and Gilbert has made a great improvement so should we not all support the hope he continues this good form rather than attack him for past mistakes?

Good today. But at his age and experience he should play like that every week. Today's game is his standard. I hope he maintains it but I am not confident

Careful Recruit, you might get a post from Pav asking you to call Gilbo and tell him why you're not confident
