Acres Rising Star watch:
A bit quieter in the last when the game was over.
28 disposals. 6 contested. 2 goals. 5 tackles. 2 goal assists. 3 inside 50s.
I'll be disappointed if he doesn't get the nomination this week.

Roger that. He is only 20y 7 months. Will be 20yo all season. Could be anything in three years.st.byron wrote:13th game at senior level. 190 cm. Still 20 y.o.Con Gorozidis wrote:Acres Rising Star watch:

Re: Match Thread Saints v Demons @ Etihad
Great win, but we are still to run out a last 1/4 over the top of teams. We should have really gone for throat and killed the Dees in the last.
Acres has arrived and still has plenty of room for improvement.
Membrey arrived also needed that confidence builder.
Ross was great once again. Is so much more effective when he runs with the ball.
Steven again brilliant.
Hickey edged out Gawn. He is great below his knees for a big bloke.
Roo still eite unbelievable.
Gilbert is he bi polar? His kicking and handballing today was exceptional.

Hickey is just so bloody good. So smart. Around the packs he just knows what to do. The way he keeps his arms free to get off a handball in traffic is A grade.MC Gusto wrote:Hickey was great.

Billings, Acres, Membrey, Sinclair, Dunstan - all in the top 8 for player ratings today. All 21 or under. Who was rated #1 ? That #12 guy.Con Gorozidis wrote:Roger that. He is only 20y 7 months. Great premiership quarter Saints and great win. Go Saints!!!!!
As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”

Yep I see what you mean....agile and effective around the ground. Great at the stoppages. He's looking like he's really taken a step into A grade ruckman territory. Lots of Hickey love going on here. The big fellas need time don't they? Isn't it amazing how someone can just find their groove seemingly overnight. When in reality it's the outcome of years of effort and development. The Fireman wrote:reminds me of a young spider.Con Gorozidis wrote:Hickey is just so bloody good. So smart. Re: Match Thread Saints v Demons @ Etihad
I know it's only one game - but given he is only 21yo surely Membrey gets himself a new contract?
I know the general 'consensus' is that he is an in-between size for AFL but if he is good enough does it really matter?
He will always be a fringe type of player but he is a bloody good fringe player. Good to have around the club as depth at bare minimum.

When is his contract up?
Re: Match Thread Saints v Demons @ Etihad
Always thought he is our new version what we lost in lynch and cripps who have permanent roles in contenders now so ther is definite demand for that type of player. Sign him up for a couple years for sure. He keeps working hard I can even see him pinch hitting in the midfieldCon Gorozidis wrote:I know it's only one game - but given he is only 21yo surely Membrey gets himself a new contract?

Acres was brilliant. He's also a decent size for a 20 yr old. We will need to manage him carefully this year. Another year and he should be good to go every week.

Most pleasing thing today was that besides Roo - it was the kids who did a lot of damage.
Acres, Ross, Billings, Dunstan, Hickey, Sinclair, Membrey were all simply too good for their opponents.
