Re: Team v Dees
Lee unlucky but I suppose they don't have too many talls in the forward line.
Who will take his place in the back line though as 8cres is a mid and Gresham & Membrey are forwards?
Paddy out means the commentators may not compare him & Petracca.

Was exposed early.................only did a couple of things in 2nd half
IMHO many on here over rated his performance last week.

Interesting selections.Con Gorozidis wrote:Man Lee really is unlucky. Thought he did some really strong things.
Looks like we're going in with a more conventional forward line instead of 3 bigs/3 smalls.
Lonie maybe suffering '2nd year blues'? Hope Paddy kicks a few for Sandy and we see him back in a couple of weeks.
Lee a bit unlucky but there isn't really a matchup for him.
At the end of the day, if our players (esp mids) kick the ball to our forwards like they did last week then not only do our forwards not stand a chance, but our defenders end up looking stupid because the ball flies back in 4.8 seconds and they're opponent gets it lace out.

FFS, a soft decision. Obviously don't want to turn it into a Petracca v McCartin weekend. Also, Lee is extremely stiffchook23 wrote:McCartin......MANAGED......

Re: Team v Dees
Good idea to drop the best kick in the backline when kicking is the problem. Absolute clowns this selection committee. We will get nothing for Lee when he goes home because even when given a chance and he plays well, our idiotic selectors drop him.

Re: Team v Dees
The coaches have got their minds set in stone. They are going to play Fisher and Dempster out this year and then play Roberton-Carlisle-Goddard together starting next year. Still harsh on Lee. I thought he showed enough to stay in at least until Roberton gets back.

So is Montagna fit or can we expect a late change?

Re: Team v Dees
The emergencies are interesting, I'm a fan of Bull Murdoch and am surprised, but delighted to see his name. And Goddard has been a forgotten man, good to see him and Billy Longer named, albeit as emergencies.
I'm happy to see Acres & Membry, but dissapointed for Lee & McCartin, especially Lee who was good last week. I'm a bit ho-hum about Lonie & Gresham.

Love the Ins...
Really unhappy with the outs but I guess someone has to go.
Was hoping to see a Paddy break out game vs Melbourne... Beau Maister kicked 3 or 4 on them a few times.
Super shattered for Lee
I hope it's just a mtach up thing but I think he did well and earned his spot. Hate to see him miss whilst Gilbert plays though i guess it's not an apples for apples comparison.

Re: Team v Dees
I am absolutely stunned that Lee is out, last 2 weeks surely has done enough to get another go. Last week was 17 disposals at 78%, surely that's a pass
And why not give him a go at Hogan and see how he would go
Plus the bloody dream teams, something like 4.5% including me had bought him in this week

Re: Team v Dees
Surprised Lee was dropped. I thought we were looking to the future? Was he dropped because he had no tackles last week? If so that's ridiculous given the intercept marking and kicking strengths he provides.

Re: Team v Dees
Lee's precision 50+ metre kicking is a poor fit for our backline, we're much better to keep pumping games into 33 year olds. Would hate for Lee to get any confidence and actually make it. Way too risky.

Re: Team v Dees
Understand Lonie he's been right out of it
Paddy - well I guess managed means rested...and to be fair he didn't impact last week
Lee? I mean wtf - he was far from our worst in fact was probably a shining light other than roo. Seriously the one guy who took a few nice marks and hit targets by foot gets dropped?
Acres in - that's good he'll play 40% of the game and get dropped again.
Dees for the win. Petracca 25 posisies and a goal or two

Re: Team v Dees
They have three tall forwards in Hogan 195, Frost194 and Watts 196.Jacks Back wrote:Lee unlucky but I suppose they don't have too many talls in the forward line.
.
I would have thought that Fisher, Lee and Dempster would have been good options.
We are going in short.
Lee I thought looked good in his 2 games and I would have thought desrved to be kept given the 3 talls in the dees forward line.
Looks like Gilbert will have to play as a defender.

Re: Team v Dees
Agree with selections.
Lee did a few things in the 2nd half last week, but was beaten in first half - did not read the ball on occasions in flight, and was in the wrong position, ie Cameron mark over the back. Not sure whether he will make it unfortunately.

Re: Team v Dees
Who the hell played on Greene & Shaw last week?
The coaching panel should be sent back to Sandy this week.

Re: Team v Dees
Ins:
Membrey was really good last week - he thrived playing as a bash and crash forward rather than a lead up forward he's been forced to play in the ones so far. With Paddy out he should get a go at being a genuine target forward
Gresham - I reckon he's already a favourite of Richo. Was really good last week with some zip and toughness on ball
Acres - Go Blacres! Just remember to keep a close eye on your man this week
Outs:
Lee - bit unlucky but if they want to go a bit more mobile this week then it has to be him out as our old backs are locks each week apparently. It gives him a chance to re-calibrate after his first two AFL games in defence. He'll be back.
McCartin - he did look a bit off it last week after two weeks of serious pack bash and crashing.
Lonie - a chance to get his touch and confidence up again.
Oh and it would be nice with Lee's good kicking out if Dempster can try and be just a tincey-wincey bit attacking. Try some riskier, attacking kicks Sean instead of leaving that to everyone else (I know this is heresy against St Sean the Great as he is seen on this board but our back 3 has been too static and making it too easy for the press to shut in)
