Can anyone here on this forum honestly say they would be caught dead with another teams banner being thirst thing you see on their own social profile for whatever reason.

Be VERY interesting to see when Stephens gets his next St Kilda game - and his next Hawthorn game!

Humphrey Smith was also the lawyer for "Andrew Lovett" when he sued St.Kilda for wrongful dismissal.
"...If there has been one recurring theme through this whole shocking mess, it has been the misguided, inflated egos and their ill-judged determination to cling to long-standing old boy friendships. The bad advice that has guided the selfish and culpable James Hird has not only punctuated this saga but symbolised it..."

If all this is true and it finally comes out the he did barrack for the hawks can you believe anything that the afl has or will say in the future regarding any controversy.

I notice the "team" of Fisher, Stephens, Pannell has been rolled out in every round this year. Is this sort of umpire "teaming" a new thing? I hadn't noticed it before.

Also Head didn't say "Now we know what a win feels like", Schneider didn't get his jumper pulled off his back 35 metres out from goal in the last qrt of the 2009 GF and Hawkins did not hit the post.
Also Stephens did not signal play on and not 15 twice in a row.

Kate, it's been policy for about three or four years to stick with teams. There are pluses and minuses.Kate wrote:I notice the "team" of Fisher, Stephens, Pannell has been rolled out in every round this year. Is this sort of umpire "teaming" a new thing? I hadn't noticed it before.
Re: Umpire Andrew Stephens a Hawks Fan?
I have no faith whatsoever in what Humphrey-Smith has to say about who this corrupt umpire supports.
It was just a throwaway line to disarm the question and move on. I have no doubt this corrupt umpire supports the Hawks, and I have no doubt that somewhere in the back of his brown and gold biased brain he was spectating the game and saw the decision his teams way. It may have been a 1% slant toward his favored side; enough to make an incorrect decision that cost a goal.
I am happy to label Humphrey-Smith as a liar. This bloke would stick up for the umpires if they went out and shot bambi's mum; She had it coming.

I'm guessing the AFL will be very wary of having him umpiring St.Kilda matches and perhaps even Hawthorn matches from now on.Kate wrote:Andrew Stephens got the Melbourne Richmond game, although they have broken up the Fisher, Stephens, Pannell combo.
They wouldn't want the little pissant to come under any more scrutiny.

Tell me you're joking....umps cheat all the time, all you have to do is look at interstate umps. Been happening for years like the commentators. Why would you favour saints no one will give a s*** if you shaft them and who will complain. Even if you did complain who would care..sour grapes.Sainternist wrote:I'm guessing the AFL will be very wary of having him umpiring St.Kilda matches and perhaps even Hawthorn matches from now on.Kate wrote:Andrew Stephens got the Melbourne Richmond game, although they have broken up the Fisher, Stephens, Pannell combo.

Usually, what goes around comes around and that's how the general public see it..do you believe they see us copping it up the rrrs every week..they would not notice nor want to notice.

Re: Umpire Andrew Stephens a Hawks Fan?
Look, I don't subscribe to this umps cheating every week conspiracy you're getting at. But over the last week Stephens has come under some heavy criticism. There was a bit of a Fitzgerald Inquiry over it, and not just from St.Kilda supporters, but from footy fans in general.Freebird wrote:Usually, what goes around comes around and that's how the general public see it..do you believe they see us copping it up the rrrs every week..they would not notice nor want to notice.

Re: Umpire Andrew Stephens a Hawks Fan?
Humph is a lawyer and is full of sh*t.
Pompous wind bag is a media commentator so he should be independent.
Someone should have challenged the pompous wind bag and asked the Humph which team Stephens supports.
AFL umpires should be required to publicly declare what team they support.
Does the AFL even have a policy on this? Unlike the EPL, the AFL is run by amateurs.
Premier League referee Kevin Friend has been taken off Tottenham's clash with Stoke on Monday - because of his links to Leicester City.
Friend's appointment drew an angry response from Spurs fans as they bid to win their first ever Premier League title.

This would be a very pragmatic and sensible way of dealing with the concern of umpires having a preconceived bias (or previous alliance) with/for any club.
