Even though it's bang in the middle of a long weekend for something different, I sense
a half decent crowd given out form

Shafted timeslot?

We've come off a prime time Saturday night then two Saturday afternoon slots, and we get an early one Sunday against a low drawing interstate side, and you have to have a dig?

Perfectly reasonable fixturing.

Not a fan of these 1pm time slots. Don't they realise most people are still nursing hangovers on Sundays at that time.

Despite it being a potential crackerjack game of footy, we'll be lucky to get 20,000.

Apparently the club breaks even when we get 30,000 at a home match. Go figure.

This is wonderful fixturing in my book as I prefer to go to Sunday games due to work commitments and as a three-game member I earmarked Round 5 vs GWS at 1:10, Round 12 vs Carlton at 1:10 (also in the middle of a long weekend) and Round 23 vs Brisbane (also highly likely to be a 1:10 start too given that neither side is likely to be in finals contention) as must see games this season, particularly with the latter two being likely wins to boot!

By the way I think we will get around 27 000 to the game on Sunday, not enough to turn a profit for the club, but enough to make plenty of noise if things are tight in the last quarter.

Interesting point re hangovers and the younger set. I take it you generally prefer the 4.40pm twilight Sunday slot then?

Hahaha I'm not saying I'm always hungover before the footy. The twilight time slot is preferable, but I probably most prefer the old fashioned 2pm time for the first bounce. It must just be the traditionalist in me. Plus, there's something nice about it at that time. Everyone has had plenty of time to travel and to have their lunch before the first bounce. But of course, things have changed since television rights have dictated when and where games are to be scheduled. People need to stop subscribing to Fox Footy and attend the matches instead.

Out of the three Sunday time slots the 1:10 definitely gets my tick.
Hate with a passion the 4:40 Sunday slots, get home too late for a Sunday night (yep i must be getting old).
3:20 is Ok but would much prefer it be back to 2:10.

EDIT: Oh yeah and crowd of 22,560

I like 1.10pm games. Gets me out of having to do the grocery shopping.

1.10 on a Sunday arvo - don't have work the next day. Take the wife and kids - see the Sainters hopefully get a win, Chinese meal afterwards and a beer, what more could you want?

25,000 will attend.

And next week we get double lucky - Saturday arvo 1:45 start at our home ground against the Dees - for their home game!!! I think we're going awright.

I like the early starts. Rapt that the week after we play the Dees at Etihad at 1:45.

I really hope that the Brisbane game is a 1:10 start too. I hate the Sunday 3:30 or 4:40 starts with an absolute passion. I still go, but I hate the timing with two kids under 10.

This will be the first game I've gone to in a couple of years (young family has kept us busy) and I'm taking a couple of mates who aren't much into footy to try convert them, so I want to make the whole experience as positive as possible, and I'm wondering if anyone knows any good spots to grab a bite to eat before the game, either just outside the ground or nearby?

Also due to the probable low crowd would level 1 be general admission for this game?
