They've been pretty transparent about it. They said he wouldn't be available for selection until about round 5 as they want to make sure his hammy is strong as can be. Do you suspect he's still not right?Bunk_Moreland wrote:Yeah rightBluthy wrote:He's not injured. Two weeks away, I'm told.
I started with nothing and I've got most of it left!

Has been reported that Freeman needs to see a specialist because he cant go more than 80% without feeling he is going to ping his hammys.Bluthy wrote:They've been pretty transparent about it. Just relaying what an insider said on BF. Suffice to say others say they have heard nothing on this.dragit wrote:Oh dear, that is terrible news bunk.
May just be precautionary. Coyld be psychological, could be actual.
Other insiders say his hammy is 100%.
Club is doing its best. It might not cone good for another 3 months.
No rush I suppose

Re: Injury Update 2016
I find that really hard to believe. Players that make it to AFL instinctively push their limits. He might be a bit nervous and tentative when he plays his first VFL game but after a game or two I'm sure he will just go after it again without a second thought.Bunk_Moreland wrote: Has been reported that Freeman needs to see a specialist because he cant go more than 80% without feeling he is going to ping his hammys.

I'd also take it with a grain of salt. I'm not sure if this was before or after he posted photos of another poster.

Re: Injury Update 2016
It's not beyond the pale that the club arranged for Nathan to have a session(s) with a psychologist/therapist. With two years of a chronic injury stopping him playing and then doing another tweek in the preseason perhaps he was suffering anxiety, frustration, wasn't sleeping or was very down watching his mates play while he was restricted to running and the bike - all that is understandably difficult for a 20 y.o to deal with. A psychologist could give him some tools to deal with the frustration and anxiety about his future and to channel it correctly.

and would he be the first-- not by a dozen years or more- to use the services of professionals,
wonder if they have thought of sending clokey to one ...... might hit more than the side of a barn.
pretty sure psychology would play a larger part of any clubs support regime than many expect.

Re: Injury Update 2016
so early concerns before Monday's check
4 concussions, 1 shoulder, 1 knee and a few niggles
and some very tired bodies- How many did get off in the last- and how many played the whole quarter.

Re: Injury Update 2016
Roberton out, Goddard concussion, Gilbert struggling with shoulder, Lee one of the best in VFL apparently. The pieces couldn't fit together any better for Lee to a guernsey in the seniors.saintbrat wrote:Shoulder - Gilbertborderbarry wrote:Do we know who the concussions are beside Paddy and Roo, and who is the shoulder?

I hope the selectors see it that way. Tom should have played by now. If he doesnt get selected now we will know his papers are definitely marked.

“Luke Dunstan and Jimmy Webster were both unavailable for the Hawthorn due to some minor leg strains.
“The good news is they’re both rehabbing well. Again, they’ll have to train well on Thursday but could well be in selection for this week, which would be a good outcome.”
Rookie pair Nick O’Kearney and Brenton Payne remain a week away from returning from arm and shin injuries respectively. Cox revealed first-year midfielder O’Kearney has accelerated through his rehabilitation and is ahead of schedule.
“Both O’Kearney and Payne are rehabbing well,” Cox said.
