We can go 3-3
If we can keep up the way we have been playing these last two weeks we could account for GWS and Melbourne in the next 2 weeks getting us to 3-3. I don't want to look too far ahead but we could even go 5-5 if we can keep this game style up.
Go Saints!!!!

The way we're going we could be 6-4. Getting way ahead but enjoying the excitement.
GWS, Demons, North, Bummers and Freo all at Etihad all winnable.
WCE in Perth I'd be very surprised if we win.

We're going to break out into another 'wins vs draft picks' stoush on here before too long.

Let's not get too far ahead of ourselves here. GWS have done nothing, sure. But they have serious A Grade talent on every line, on the bench, and in their NEAFL team. Remember they beat us easily last year with a raft of injuries. They represent a definite challenge for us, albeit a much different one from sides which have won recent premierships in Collingwood and Hawthorn. The 19th man, the crowd, will be a major factor in next Sunday's match. It's an afternoon game, lunchtime start, early Sunday arvo during a long weekend. Let's see if we can get 28,000 there to barrack our lungs out.
Demons have improved, but how lucky are we that they play their home game against us at our home ground?!? A real chance. Saturday afternoon game and could be a decent crowd. Like the way they, us and the Bulldogs are building a bit of a rivalry too. They arguably have the edge over us advantage talent wise at this stage, and I like the way they are playing this year, but we should have the edge in experience and get over the line.
North don't lose the ones they are expected to win. Too many big players and their big guys like Waite, Petrie, Goldstein, Thompson and Firrito always do well against us. Don't think so.
West Coast; nup.
After round 8 our toughest run of the season is done, much like the final 6 games of last year. After the West Coast game we should win five of our next 8, in rounds 9-17. The final rounds are always difficult for younger sides - or in our case, a team which has a lot of young players, but even allowing for that we should beat Carlton at the G and Brisbane in the final round at Etihad.

In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

'97 we lost the first two, then beat Collingwood in Round 3. We lost the next two then beat Melbourne in Round 6.
We're still on track for that start and a Grand Final appearance.

and probably even more improbably we ended up finishing the season on top of the ladder for the first time since 1965 winning the most games!magnifisaint wrote:and we ended up winning 15 in the home and away seasonkosifantutti wrote:'97 we lost the first two, then beat Collingwood in Round 3. I would argue that if we don't beat GWS and Melbourne in the next two weeks then we haven't really improved - but I think we will as I think we have.

I think the St's should play two ruck-men against Mumford.

Re: We can go 3-3
FYI: GWS are more than 10 goals ahead of Port at half-time. They have talent to absolutely burn and have been unfairly over compensated by the League IMO for the fact that they are in a non-traditional AFL state. If we beat them next week it will be a mighty effort I reckon. I agree with you about Melbourne though, that is a must win as it was a game at the beginning of the year which would have pencilled in as a win by the club.Jacks Back wrote:I would argue that if we don't beat GWS and Melbourne in the next two weeks then we haven't really improved - but I think we will as I think we have.

AND they get Cameron back from suspension. They have an awesome list, no real weakness. Re: We can go 3-3
I recall, at the Press Club luncheon address last year in Canberra, the CEO of the AFL said that GWS was Canberra's side and that they would be the power house of the competition over the next decade.
If the AFL says so, so it will be.
As with the result of yesterday's match v The Kennett's.
It is THEIR competition after all.
