Faithful Saint -Rest in Peace
I was extremely saddened to read of the passing away this morning of Eastern Saint

That is terrible news. He was a great guy, and one of the more knowledgeable supporters. He also had a great sense of humour. A ripping bloke and a great Saint.
RIP Tom.
RIP Tom.
*Allegedly.

Vale, Eastern. I'm also shocked and sad to hear this. Tom was part of this page for almost 20 years and will be missed. My sincere condolences to his friends and family.
They will not grow old, as those from more northern States grow old.
For them it will always be three-quarter-time, with the scores level
and the wind advantage in the final term.

One in a million. How I will miss his wicked sense of humour. If EVER there was an occasion for us to honour one of our own with a win, it must surely be THIS week. Saints, do it this week against the Pies! Do it for EASTERN! RIP dear friend

Extremely sad news.
Only met Tom once; on the Saintsational table at the B & F in 2011. Found him to be a wonderful, kind man and we maintained a level of contact afterwards via various social media.
RIP Tom and my sincere condolences to your family and friends.

RIP Eastern. Never a cross word against the Saints

Re: Faithful Saint -Rest in Peace
I was proud to participate in the Saints march around Etihad, organized by the club, but without the vision and drive of my pal Eastern, it would not have got off the ground. I hope that the club can do something tangible to pay tribute to someone who gave so much of himself to our club. I just don't know how the Whitten Room will ever be quite the same to me now.

RIP Tom. Nice bloke.
And to answer a previous question, I'm guessing he was aged late 50's.
Way too young and soon.

Thanks SP We forumites may not always agree with each other on everything, but we are part of something bigger, part of a family. Tom Eastern was everybody's favourite family member!

Re: Faithful Saint -Rest in Peace
Shared many a beer and laugh pre-match with Tom.
One in particular springs to mind before the 2005 Sydney prelim at the Cricketers Arms where we both arrived extremely.... early.
I remember us both being nervous as hell and spent the next two hours talking ourselves into a win over three cans or more.
Ripping bloke. Absolute Saints tragic like myself.
I'm absolutely shattered.
My sincere condolences to his friends and family.
I only knew Tom through one area of his life. And I consider myself lucky for that.
Rest in peace buddy.

Re: Faithful Saint -Rest in Peace
Met Tom through this Forum...and in person at an Intra Club game in the early 2000's
Since then have watched many many games in his company...and had a pregame ale at more games than not over 15 or more years.
Beloved member of our Saints community and also a passionate advocate for road safety and driver education.
One of natures gentlemen and a more positive and glass half full fan you'd not meet.
RIP mate..deepest condolences to Wendy and family
