Changes against the Dogs
Templeton and Gresham may struggle to hold their places. Replacements could be from Sinclair, Michington, Curren or Murdoch. Not sure if McKenzie belongs in the midfleld or backline.
Our backline struggled. Perhaps Lee could get a game, or Goddard. But who makes way?
Apparently McCartin kicked goals today, is there a spot for him?
Poor Billy Longer, he struggle to get a game if Hickey continues this amazing form.

Re: Changes against the Dogs
I don't really like the idea of dropping Gresham. But it might have to happen.
If Paddy is fit, then he plays IMO.

Re: Changes against the Dogs
I think Gresham has to go for now... Not knocking the kid, but perhaps too soon.
Is classy but didn't do enough today for mine to hold his spot.
I like the idea of bringing in say Holmes and Sinclair for the pair to give us a bit more height.
Dasher Minch is busting down the door for a game snd I'd like to see him get one real soon but I'm not sure for who.
This next view will pbly not be popular, but would love to see Lee get his chance in the backline... For who i guess becomes the issue but from what i can see, he models his game similar to Dempster but more attacking than negating. It's not my intent to knock Sean but I want to see Lee deliver the ball out from the backline with that super disposal of his.

Re: Changes against the Dogs
I know Lee is not Carlisle but surely Carlisle would be playing if he was available. Who for though? Maybe drop that player and slot in Lee who apparently can play forward and back as needed and give him a go in the Carlisle roll for now. Could it be Geary, Webster of Roberton (it would have to be one of those 3 defender you would think).skeptic wrote:I think Gresham has to go for now... Not knocking the kid, but perhaps too soon.

Alternatively he comes into the forward line as the third tall who can also go back or ruck.
Out: Templeton, Gresham, Dunstan
In: Sinclair, Lee/Holmes, Minchington

Doggies going to be quick. I think Gresh and Templeton go out. In McCartin. Minch with 44 touches is crazy - has to be good chance but Sinclair with 4 goals has to be in the running too. It would be tempting to have Goddard for Boyd but I don't know who makes way - Dempster? He seems a bit off at the moment.

Re: Changes against the Dogs
I think we need some more height both forward and back.
As to the backline, Webster and Savage were both down a bit. Given Joey is now playing more of the quarterback role ( as befits his nickname ) I think Shane is at risk.
In : Lee, Out: Savage.
Up forward, Jade Gresham will be back, but a bit early for him just yet. Paddy obviously found some touch yesterday.
In: McCartin, Out: Gresham.
I also think Minch's BOG effort yesterday, on the back of a super finals series last year, deserves to be rewarded, especially as some of the forwards/midfielders didn't get enough of it.
In : Minchington, Out:,Templeton.

We won't need height down back against the dogs, we'll need run and speak cover...
I think we need another tall fwd though.

Re: Changes against the Dogs
I think the time is right for Paddy and I would bring back Sinclair.
Templeton and Gresham are likely outs as they did not do enough.

Savage did have a shocker - shanked handballs and kicks for the entire second half

Re: Changes against the Dogs
Definitely need another tallish forward - maybe Membrey or McCartin, for balance. Hopefully, McCartin.
Lonie played a fantastic first half, but then was repeatedly outmarked by taller opponents - and it wasn't his fault.

Re: Changes against the Dogs
Geary and Gilbert should be dropped IMHO. Their disposal by foot is terrible and more often than not results in a score for the opposition. Bring in Lee and Paddy.
Re: Changes against the Dogs
But can Fisher cover Boyd? That's another big ask. Goddard would slow us down but then Dempster isn't exactly quick these days.BigMart wrote:We won't need height down back against the dogs, we'll need run and speak cover...

Re: Changes against the Dogs
Boyd is not that good a player. There are many more serious threats that needs to be covered first. Boyd will only have a day out if we are being slaughtered elsewhere anyway.Bluthy wrote:But can Fisher cover Boyd? That's another big ask. Yes I thought his disposal was Gearyesque. Having two defenders use the ball so bady was a big reason why we did not win.
Savage is normally much better though.
