In a rare development, Match report made it to the Age already! Big raps for Paddy ...

overheard and experienced Sainter talking about McCartin & gave him good wraps.
-bright kid
-good work ethic
-strong hands.
But stressed that he isn't a Jake Stringer. He is an old school lead up, crash the pack forward.
He said if the game stays the same as it has the last few years with all the congestion that Paddy might struggle to become dominate.
But if it opens up (like it has so far with the interchange cap) that nothing was really stopping him from becoming a monster.
With Lonie it's a modern day Gehrig and Milne if all things work out.

7 goals is good but in a 147 point thumping, so what? You'd expect a tall forward to kick that if not more in such a thrashing.
As ex-president Peter Summers said:

Couldn't have asked for too much more. Did baby Huey play?

Re: Paddy doing well for sandy
Paddy gave at least 4 away.
He took a mark on the goal line and after going back for the kick handballed it to TDL.
Sometimes sharing it is ridiculous!

Bang on. The only thing stopping McCartin now is if the AFL changes the rules again.saintjake wrote:overheard and experienced Sainter talking about McCartin & gave him good wraps.

Re: Paddy doing well for sandy
He handpassed two over the top in the square which he could have kicked himself.
Also sunk a monster from 55m off one step.
If he'd been selfish, he would have kicked 10.
Big step up to the AFL, as he was playing an undermanned Box Hill. But he couldn't have done much more - was the dominant key position player on the ground.

Re: Paddy doing well for sandy
I was really excited until I saw TDL kicked 6. Still, I'm a fan of Paddy and hope he's kicking goals in the seniors, rather than the VFL, very, very soon. I think the boy has got what it takes.Legendary wrote:He handpassed two over the top in the square which he could have kicked himself.

Re: Paddy doing well for sandy
As many have said he could of kicked 10 he is very unselfish.
Not that it matters but he did not kick 7 he kicked 6 goals 2 behinds, in the match report the sandy goals add up to 32 not 27. TDL and Sinclair also over stated by one.
Paddy albeit against a weakened team could not have been any more impressive, he played on Kurt Heathrley and Kaiden Brand who are both Hawthorn listed players.
His reading off where the ball was going was a step ahead of everyone else, he works hard up and down the ground hence the 25 possessions and 15 marks.
If I wanted to critical I would like to see him chase a bit harder when the ball hits the deck.
Was super impressed by his crunching off the packs in the air.

Re: Paddy doing well for sandy
I would consider Josh Kennedy an old school lead up fwd similar to Paddy. Already has 376 career goals and will get plenty more. Probably 500+.Munga wrote:Bang on. I agree. Almost as ridiculous as the times Milney decided to play on after having a set shot directly in front and getting subsequently pinged for holding the ball.Bernard Shakey wrote:Paddy gave at least 4 away.

You'd never see Tony Lockett share it around in front of goal. All the big forwards need to take a leaf out of Plugger's book. It's okay to be goal hungry when you're 100% sure you can kick the goal yourself.
