more than 6, less than 30!
If we win i'd put $20 on the 8!

Re: Port v saints guess the team and result
Hot day, Port are fired up and will not stop stop stop running til their top top top. I think we need players who are proven match fit as we are already behind the eight-ball with our cancelled match:
Roberton Dempster Geary
Gilbert Fisher Savage
Steven Armitage, Montagna
Billings Riewoldt Newnes
Weller Bruce Lonie
RUCKS Hickey Ross Dunstan
INT: Holmes Webster Acres Sinclair
Gilbert to play back because I think we need his height for cover. Sinclair may struggle for fitness but I like his class. I think we should be able to keep it to under 6 goals.

Why do we want to limit our margin of victory?

Re: Port v saints guess the team and result
I can't remember who (Richo?), but someone at the club said Goddard was a bit behind on his preseason due to his heat exhaustion collapse. As the first game of the season on hot day I think they'll be conservative with guys not at full fitness - Longer, McCArtin, Goddard etc.bigred wrote:Er....

Re: Port v saints guess the team and result
Easter Sunday and a fresh season... You'd expect Adelaide Oval to be jumping early... I'd hate for the guys to be like deer in the headlights in that kind of atmosphere and get off to a really poor start, they could end up getting smashed by 100 pts if the Power get away to that kind of flyer. On the other hand, if they hit in really hard early and let them know St Kilda are there for a game of footy... they could potentially drag Port Adelaide into a match that could very well still be alive at half time and even 3/4 time. If that's the case, The club could pinch a great win and a great to start the year.
Unfortunately, I think the silly mistakes coming out of defense and coughing up the ball at horrid times across the middle of the ground will again cost these up and coming Mighty Sainters. Port Adelaide by 38 pts.

Re: Port v saints guess the team and result
These guys are the future. We want (actually need) to get games into them. We are in development mode. We can't keep playing the oldies for ever. We need to get these young talented players upto that 75 game mark asap. Armo and Steven aren't getting any younger and we want a strong match-hardened young troupe to support them when we are playing finals.Con Gorozidis wrote:I know birth certificates arent everything but I dont expect much from these guys this year:bigred wrote:Er....

Re: Port v saints guess the team and result
We have an average losing margin at the Adelaide Oval of 64 pts. We haven't won against Port or in South Australia since 2011. We're due for a good performance there.

Re: Port v saints guess the team and result
It will either be a win to Port or a win to us, or a draw, and I'm hoping for a win for us of course. The margin might be big, or could be small. What I don't want to hear if we lose is Richo going' "yeah, no we were beaten by their outside runners" or similar for the third season in a row. I'm sure Richo will manufacture a win though.

B: Webster, Dempster, Lee
HB: Montagna, Fisher, Roberton
C: Newnes, Gilbert, Savage
HF: Billings, Riewoldt, Weller
F: Lonie, Bruce, Hickey
Foll: Holmes, Steven, Armitage
Int: Geary, Ross, Dunstan, Wright
Emg: Gresham, Membury, Acres
From Melb game:
In: Lee
Out: Gresham, Membury, Acres
I think our defensive intent will return from 2015, but we're gonna be underdone against a powerful running team. I'd expect something around 30-40 points margin, with a better showing on our deck in Round 2.
