Re: NAB Match Thread v Roos
The first half was excellent considering the side we had in. Was just about certain that North would eventually get on top. No need to panic or worry at all. The only people who should be worried are those who thought we could finish top 6. People say we have good depth but that's a myth. We are a 6 to 8 win side. Seen nothing to suggest worse or better.

So hard to watch with those self obsessed muppets commentating. Just call the game for gawds sake!
Dermie's drawl, drawl, drawl, sucks what little atmosphere there is right outa the game.

North do have a very strong senior team against an inexperienced side of mainly kidsThe Fireman wrote:the skill difference is glaringly obvious
I think we've done ok considering this!

Josh the Bruce goal! He works so hard. Our only target without McCartin.

Absolutely spot on - that is why I believe we will win 7 games this year. We won't be anywhere near the worst side in the comp this year, but we are still one full season away from being a mid-table side. Too many holes. We've recruited to fill those holes, no doubt, but we won't see much of those guys until 2017.ripplug66 wrote:The first half was excellent considering the side we had in. Dunstan and Billings haven't played many minutes. Lots of talent to come in for next game.

He needs to be played in defence - pretty obvious he isn't going to make it as a forward at this level.Bluthy wrote:Tommy Lee bad kick inboard. High risk low reward.

Always next year.

North 117 defeated the mighty saints 73 who basically had a reserves team.
Re: NAB Match Thread v Roos
Jeez he's played a handful of games and I think spent a fair bit of time off the ground today. What about guys like Weller with all the games under his belt - what does he do when the s*** hits the fan? Ross gets it but doesn't do anything dangerous. Acres is a dangerous player when he has it. He kicked a goal and almost got another.MC Gusto wrote:Acres seems to have great matches in the vfl and praccy etc and then you don't see him in the afl??

Re: NAB Match Thread v Roos
Watched the whole thing, not all doom and gloom IMO. Pretty solid for the full match besides that third quarter. We will get better with the talent playing more minutes (and playing at all!).
Ross looks like he's taken that next step with a full preseason. Expecting big things. Billings kicked a ripper as did Sinclair, but we suffered with a lack of targets up forward.
Dermie today probably talked more about Hickey than anyone has in Hickey's whole life.

Younger inexperienced team plays close to full strength experienced team possibly pushing for finals, and the outcome on the scoreboard is about right. I can't see us climbing the ladder this season, unless a few players really have breakout seasons and we get class into the midfield. Hopefully Richo is aiming to peak the team later than earlier fitness-wise.

Re: NAB Match Thread v Roos
Main thing for me today was that I was looking at who seemed to be stepping up relative to past form.
Ross was for me the major plus. Really showed today that he can be part of our midfield this year.
Unfortunately many of the maybes did not impress. ie Shenton etc all had a chance to shine but did not.
I would have liked Acres to have done a bit more.
Sinclair looks very good, but needs to be in the game more.

Two of our top 7 from the best and fairest playing. I don't know how anyone can draw conclusions about the team as a whole.
