I have another poster who wants to take 5 shares. But we already have promises for 100 shares so we have a small problem.

There are a number of options.

1. Try to collect another $2000 and sponsor a 2nd player.
2. Try to collect enough to sponsor a higher profile player eg Josh Bruce for an extra $300 or 15 shares.
3. Any extra money is just donated to the club.
4. Wait to see if any of the promised contributors forget to pay or decide to reduce their commitment.

Any preferences or other ideas?

My order that would probably be best for you is 4, 2,1 and then 3. The last thing you need is to help and be out of pocket. Someone probably wont pay so just wait and see. Probably need a time limit on it as the club will want the money. I think a second player may just be a bridge to far.

I agree go with option 4 initially , then see how it plays out. If and when you collect all amounts and lock in the $2000 sponsored player for us, and you still have excess , then let us know and we can see if option 1 is possible I suggest you not go to option 2 - it may be a bridge too far, and then we are potentially left without a player.
