Re: Saints home for Christmas- Moorabbin announcement
didn't Finnis say the project would be finished mid 2017 which means the VFL team would start 2018?
unless enough of the project would be done by start of VFL 2017?
but most likely 2018 so this is a two year delay to what was originally announced/projected?

Big news. Good news. And kills the debate once and for all. Archie Fraser was a complete f_wit.
But $30m. Wowee. That is a lot of money.
Although apparently Hawthorn Dingley = $50m and Freo Cockburn = $109m.
I have no idea what they are doing at Cockburn but it sounds like they are building a space station.

Also it seems the club disagrees with rip66 that training location is irrelevant:
“We don’t believe players choose their clubs merely on the basis of the facilities and where they are located, but it certainly helps,” Finnis said.

Players will be pumped. They can now live in Sandy, Hampton, Brighton, Bentleigh, Elsternwick, Elwood etc and still be at training in 5-10 minutes.

As I asked on the other thread are they going to get rid of the current grandstand and social club?saintbrat wrote: An elite, purpose-built training and administration base that includes a gym, theatrette, indoor basketball court and swimming pool;

Because, if they do, can we PLEASE have one more look at the famous Saints disco area (if it's still there). Lots of memories there and it would be good to see the area one more time (although it was probably converted into offices or something back in the day).
Someone make it happen!

Really happy about the move back to Moorabbin for the players' sake, and being a Hampton lad, I might actually be able to catch the odd training session.
Some consideration would need to be given to playing some of the home and away fixtures against interstate teams there; we never break even at Etihad when we play the Lions, Power, Freo etc and so this might be the answer.

How will it work with private training sessions if it's a semi public facility?
Or are they a thing of the past?

Definitely not a thing of the past. Same way the hawks managed I guess. Doesnt seem that difficult to manage. When we want a private session it wont be public. Hence 'semi' public.HitTheBoundary wrote:How will it work with private training sessions if it's a semi public facility?
