Re: New jumper numbers thread (only for those who care)
I notice that Luke Dunstan has used the Twitter name @LukeDunstan2 this morning.
"...If there has been one recurring theme through this whole shocking mess, it has been the misguided, inflated egos and their ill-judged determination to cling to long-standing old boy friendships. The bad advice that has guided the selfish and culpable James Hird has not only punctuated this saga but symbolised it..."

That's from Step Brothers with Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly.millarsaint wrote:definitely see Jack Sinclair in a nippy number 2.
no way should Weller give up 44 - especially as he has been playing forward. It's a prestige jumper. Prestige Worldwide. Worldwide. Worldwide.
My favourite quote from that movie was "something's about to happen"!
Since this is not an entertainment thread, Sinclair to 38, Rice to 37 (if he gets to us), Pick 14 to 23, Carlisle to 22, Lonie to 13, Freeman to 10 and leave number 2 vacant this year until a young gun really puts their hand up for it next year.
its time to make a name for yourself like you've never made before!

I think sinclair did put his hand up. I think he's going to be with us a long time. I think he'd be great as our No 2. What's the point of promoting him from 40 to 38? 40's a better number than 38 anyway (don't ask me to explain that).darylcowie wrote:That's from Step Brothers with Will Ferrell and John C. Also, I don't think anyone should get No10 without earning it.

I think he should move from 40 to 38, since he is an obvious upgrade on Saad.avid wrote:I think sinclair did put his hand up. I think he's going to be with us a long time. He'll be an upgrade on Siposs, too, sad to say.
I just say: all top 12 numbers MUST be earned. (maybe top 20?)

I've changed my mind on Carlisle, who should be given 2, to distance himself from any connection whatsoever with his former club and because we may yet rookie Ray.

2. Pick 14 if a mid. Otherwise Sinclair.
10. Leave it t this vacant this year. Give to NcCarten or Goddard next year, whoever deserves it most.
Roberts Ditterich and Everitt, probably our best at 10, were all fair haired. So is Goddard.
13. Happy for Lonie to inherit it.
22. Freeman
23. Carlisle
37. Rice Junior.

Who on earth made the decision 4 to Templeton. Ideal for McCartin. Baldoch, Breen, Plugger. No pressure...

Well spotted. I like the line from Reilly being the young buck and she'll see check him out from his chest pubes down to his ball fro.darylcowie wrote:That's from Step Brothers with Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly.millarsaint wrote:definitely see Jack Sinclair in a nippy number 2.

On topic. Hopefully Templeton just had a case of second year blues and it had nothing to do with him cutting off his hair, and he steps up and starts earning the number 4.

He completely lost me during a VFL final this year when he refused to come off when he was clearly injured and could hardly walk.millarsaint wrote:

Needs a boot up the clacker and to realise he is just an ordinary footballer.

I really like the idea of Sinclair in #2.
But I can now see Jade Gresham in 2 very easily too. Just seems to suit.
I'd be pretty happy to have Sinclair in #10. A bit like his 40, but an upgrade. (I'd also be happy for Weller to be promoted to 10 if he wanted, and let Sinclair wait another year.)
(Let Goddard and McCartin have #11 and #12 when Joey + Roo retire.)
Lonie to #13 makes total sense, taking over from his mentor Schnides.
I agree, Borderbarry, with #22 Freeman and #23 Carlisle.
Freeman just looks like a 22 to me -- compact, powerful and fast.
I know it's Carlisle's old jumper. But maybe that's a good thing. Carlisle doesn't deserve a personal honour at this stage. Also, we don't really want the 'old' Carlisle anyway.
#23 is a tall man's jumper.
I say get Jason Holmes into #31 -- another St Kilda ruckman/tall man's jumper.
Then we have #37 for Son of Deano.
And #38 for his best mate from Stingrays, Brandon White.
White Rice together makes total sense. I'd be really really happy with this. And they probably would be too.
Then we have the vacated numbers 40 and 45 for our two new rookies, whoever they are.
Sorted.
I hope this happens
Re: New jumper numbers thread (only for those who care)
Was he an upgrade on 2012 Siposs?
Some times we need more than 12 months to assess a player
Last year Dunstan was the star
Templeton a future gun
And Sam Fisher done!

Might be OK longer term, but not qualified for the ultimate clubman's jumper right now!
