Thank Goodness For Our Logo
Seeing Melbourne dish up another awful attempt to improve their "brand" has me so thankful that we operate under an emblem that actually means something, and that the general consensus amongst the supporters is that this emblem is strictly off-limits.
For those who aren't aware of it's background, I found this info....
"However a famous moment occurred in 1933, with the badge of courage (later to become the St Kilda crest) awarded to the players who competed against North Melbourne. THe Saints beat North 13.19 (87) to 11.17 (83), but the match was won with only 15 men left on the field for the Saints. Describe as 'the greatest moral victory in the club's history' by President F. Arlington Burke.[11] Saints captain Clarrie Henderson suffered a broken ankle in the match, while Bill Mohr broke two ribs. After half time, the Saints were a ruckman and forward short, while other players were also suffering knocks. Jack Anderson was later knocked unconciuous, Bill Roberts was felled twice and Roy Bence was also knocked out and had to be carried off. Newspapers later showed photos of the badges being presented to players, either in hospital, or complete with head bandages, crutches and other medical dressing."

Re: Thank Goodness For Our Logo
Agreed
While the small stick man is a cool thing it shouldn't be the Badge/Crest of the club
While a small one on the shorts or under the number somewhere would look OK imo
Bottom of the seam on the guernsey on the edge, somewhere it is hardly noticeable?
Something.

I recall the stick figure is unable to be used by the Club as it is copyrighted or owned by The Saint TV Show.

Re: Thank Goodness For Our Logo
Are we talking about the badge/emblem as below or the logo?
As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”
St Kilda - At least we have a Crest!

Big fan of the stick figure. Loved the Challenge Cup jumper this year. But when the club wear that shield they are representing me.

I saw the Mighty Sainters win a prelim with only 17 players on the field once.St Chris wrote:Seeing Melbourne dish up another awful attempt to improve their "brand" has me so thankful that we operate under an emblem that actually means something, and that the general consensus amongst the supporters is that this emblem is strictly off-limits.

Re: Thank Goodness For Our Logo
We are not the first to use shield/cross - check out the emblem of the German/Swiss city of Konstanz. I have found an enamelled one on ebay as a car badge! Will go on one of my VW's!
the invisible and the non existent look very much alike

Re: Thank Goodness For Our Logo
I've got a mug with this logo that I drink tea from daily, have for years. Not a big fan of the black crucifix motif, but still appreciate our emblem and its history and its great that we don't have to updating it to fit current fashion like most other clubs.
