Luke Ball back in the fold????

Post: # 1589621Post loris »

I notice on the official Saints site - saints.com there is an article on the new Past Players and Officials program commencing.

I notice Luke Balll is a member down to serve on Sub committees. So Luke must be wanting to give back to the Saints, and there must be no hard feelings between him and club. Welcome back Luke.

Also interesting to read in the article that the Saints are the club who have churned through the most number of players........ don't know if that is a good or poor record to hold :? :?

No offence to Luke, but every time I seem him I feel slightly queezy....2010 would have been ours if he'd been on our side....2009 i he'd been played in the second half....neither of those facts are his fault but still.....

The aim of the Saints Past Players and Officials group is to create an environment where former Saints can enjoy each other’s company and also to build a Saints Welfare Fund.

It is worth noting more men have played with St Kilda than any other club. By extension we should have the strongest Past Player group. The “all new” committee of the Saints Past Players and Officials has already met with a view to achieving those aims.

It consists of Russell Morris (president), Dean Greig (Vice-President), Simon Meehan, Tony Brown, Andrew Cross, Steve Byrne, John Beveridge, Gary Colling, Russell Holmesby, Lisa Laing and Nicole Bertuna. Also assisting on sub-committees are Justin Koschitzke, Stephen Milne, Luke Ball, Jason Blake, Austinn Jones, Jayson Daniels, Justin Peckett and Danny Frawley.

We owe enormous thanks Saints CEO, Matt Finnis, for recognising the significance of the Past Player group with regards to the ongoing success of the club. Former player Tony Brown is now the club’s Player Welfare manager, and his involvement along with Lisa Laing – the club’s General Manager – Customer & Community, is an indication of the club’s wish to support and enhance a direct involvement with our group. Nicole Bertuna - the club’s Compliance and Supporter Group Officer - is our secretary.

Already Dean Greig, John Beveridge and Russell Holmesby have been working hard on the all-important task of getting our data base up to date.

We are already making plans for a Golf Day on a date to be determined, and a 2016 season launch at the home of Lindsay Fox. A similar function at the start of 2014 was extremely popular and we will make this even bigger and better.

Past Players and Officials can register on the following link to our new Saints PP&O eStore to join and keep in touch with our exciting plans and events.

Great player but was not the player we needed in 2010.

Excellent work by the Saints to get this initiative happening. Matt Finnis may be the best 'signing' this club has made. Hasn't put a foot wrong and has gotten the club back into the spotlight for all the right reasons.

Again great for the club. All positive after the bad news of the Carlisle stuff bit we fixed that today and this on top of it proves the club is growing up and quickly.

No idea what you do but I'm sure Bally is very employable. And he wouldn't get a cent for what he is doing.

For sure.

Ball got something like 98.5 in his VCE and someone are calling him unemployable?

if anyone watched small video from either early this year or late last- Luke was at a past players lunch then as well- with kosi and co
which surprised me at the time...
But good on any past player for remembering

Morris a good choice- he was great when we used him for promotion...

Well, if he's worth one point to a footy match then he would have been exactly what we needed in 2010.

He got the boot. RL liked blokes who could 'spread' like Peake.

I can't see how getting together with a few ex team mates helps the club in any way.

It gives the club a chance to give something back to the past players. It shows the current players that they'll be looked after and always welcome at the club for the rest of their lives, instilling a sense of family and therefore loyalty. In an industry that is becoming more cold, cutthroat and business like, it brings a little bit of humanity back into it.

So Jack Billings knows that if he decides to go to Collingwood one day, he'll be welcomed back at the end of his career.

I'm all for ex team mates getting together, but I wouldn't read anything more into it than that.

True.

Lovett was the player we needed to have a good game that day.
