Channel Seven offered Jake Carlisle film nine days earlier

Post: # 1589428Post Playon »

Channel Seven was offered video footage purporting to show Jake Carlisle in a room with illicit drugs in Las Vegas nine days before Channel Nine broadcast the damning footage that prompted the St Kilda recruit to issue a public apology.

Seven contacted Carlisle's manager, Anthony McConville, and asked him about the video and whether his client had taken drugs.

It is understood McConville contacted Carlisle in America and questioned him about the footage. At the time Carlisle denied he had been taking illicit drugs.

It amazes me that neither network bothered to contact St Kilda or Essendon
Is it a better story if when we have our pants down?

Seems the age is reporting what ch7 told SEN on the night ACA showed the video, hardly new news

Jake Carlisle’s travel tweets cost Essendon $2500 under AFL anti-doping code

Have a look at the Video, changes to the rules, Mark Evans. Looks like theyre still investigating etc

Exactly. Not a great crew. Bad enough one bloke sold the videos. Now it seems a few blokes were prepared to do the same thing. Thats a fair sign you need a new bunch of mates.

Maybe those 'blokes/friends, of the flakey one might not consider him a 'mate/friend'......... they might just consider he needs to get all the crap he deserves heaped on him for some reason................ Often it ends up as - no such thing a 'friends' when you become a user.

Would it be against his better interest to name the dobbers on his Twitter account?
As much as I dont agree with what Carlisle did, those so called friends of his are low lifes, The Channel nine one hid in darkness with his hand out for personal gain knowing full well what it would do to Carlisle's career. Leech, parasite, scumbag, coward, the list goes on. Hopefully karma comes around

I thought it was a friend of a friend who filmed it off the first friend's phone?

Who knows how many people jake sent it to, and how many people then received that friend of a friend's footage.

It's 100% jake's fault.

And if a friend sent me footage of himself doing lines on holiday I may think to myself I need better friends too.

But I'd say he has exactly the sort of friends he deserves.

That "no such thing a 'friends' when you become a user" is such a load of crap.

When i was a youngster (over 20 years ago) I was a user of various drugs, some of the friends I made in that period of my life remain my closest and dearest freinds to this day - it might sound good on commercial TV or at an AA meeting but I'm afraid its a load of old bollocks!

A Current Affair National executive producer Grant Williams clarified that the program had only received a copy of the footage for the first time late on Monday October 19 and they contacted McConville and Essendon on the Tuesday for a comment and decided to publish the following evening.

I'm thinking more and more that we should cut all ties with this Carlisle piece of filth.

The embarassment he will cause to our club is far greater than any financial loss.
Though you would hope there must be escape clauses in his contract that allow us to exit with reduced financial damage for his anti-social/criminal behaviour.

Just sack him, but not till after the draft so he is denied the chance to play.

such a narrow minded view, If he's been caught once he's been caught a 1000 times. How do you know it's not the same incident? The dumbest thing he did was not to take drugs but to film it and send it to his Essendon "mates" who obviously want to stitch him for leaving their beloved club.

The dumbest thing he did was taking drugs in the first place.

Obviously doesn't give a s*** about his career nor the company providing his wage and future, nor sponsors, nor supporters, nor his own health.

There is no reason what so ever to take drugs. He cannot bring this club down and the progress we have done so far.

There's one thing I know, I hate dealing with Essendon, many were against the trade even before the scandal, due to being burnt with Lovett and questioning Carlisle attitude, and we were right. Never again should we trade with Essendon, and never for a first round pick. There was 100% no reason why we needed to give up our first round pick.

Now he has an uphill battle to change it around. He can either take the path of hard work and earn respect from the ground up, or he can cry and whinge about having to play in a position he doesn't want to. Either way, its not going to be a walk in the park, and nothing comes easy. Everything must be earn't and whatever respect he had, he will now have to start from the ground up.

Lets hope for our sake, he takes the path of being committed, being clean, putting his head down with hard work, and perhaps the supporters will start to respect him.

The whole point of the matter is, if you gonna take drugs don't get caught. Most AFL players take drugs and nearly all of them don't get caught, so in the public's eye they are clean skins.

Carlisle is an idiot and Essendon are a disgusting lying bunch of pricks. Never deal with these oxygen thieves again.

The club must feel pretty let down by others within the footy community that appear to have blatantly misled or kept them in the dark.

Don't get this at all. many have said it but I don't see the issue. I don't think the WB have an issue with Crameri or Port with Monfries and Ryder. If Heppall wanted to come to us next season then surely we all would want him. Certainly the club would which is the main thing.

Surprised more isn,t made of this. If Essendon were informed before the deal took place then they deliberately withheld information which knowingly had ane ffect on the trade value. As such surely we are within our rights to demand the trade be annulled.
And pluggs, posters are rightly wary of trading with essendon. Just because most trades they make are fine, doesn't mean a club burned twice in a row shouldn't hesitate and perhaps walk away from dealing with them again - certainly under the current regime.

Whilst I don't agree with blanket opinions about Essendon, the club would be complete fools to deal with them for anything less than a Heppell, being a player of substantial character with runs on the board. Carlisle possessed neither of these attributes, I was really hoping a second round pick and a GOP player trade could be organised fearing exactly what's happened. We'd be mad not to take history into account when dealing with Essendon again.

Above all though, I'm not sure why we were so desperate to make such a risky trade...we could have landed Bennell for less (not that I wanted him either). I know on paper it all looked fine, especially if you ignored Carlisle's performances over the last 2 years, but surely we got caught up in our own good press to take such a risk?

I dont speak for the club but if I was the St Kilda CEO after receiving the above I would be suing Essendon, McConville (Carlisle) and the AFL for this saga!

I'm unsure how you could sue Essendon or the AFL. Anyway there is no hope of them suing anyone especially the AFL. Are we really wanting to be like America and sue when things don't go as you want? Not for me and luckily not for our club.

AFL clubs don't sue the AFL or other clubs because they're not separate bodies. They're all in the same leaky rowboat, why would any of them start kicking holes in the sides and throwing the oars overboard? The only ones who think they're separate are the fans.

Yeah isn't that amazing it contradicts this from the AFL site:
Essendon unaware of Carlisle Snapchat video until trade was done
http://www.afl.com.au/news/2015-10-30/d ... e-was-done

The question is did they know nine days earlier, channel bombers wouldnt say, and Essendont don't keep records
It would seem they at least knew the day before after the Bird deal took longer than expected

We see....
"Craig held that up a bit. We got the word later that night that he was happy to go, so we scheduled for everyone to meet at 9.30am (the next day). The trade was executed around 9.30 and the first we heard about [the video] was probably 2pm or 3pm [on Wednesday]."

Somebody is telling lies
