Re: 2016 Fixture ( released Thur 29th)
Most of the worlds leading sports have a 'draw' that is equal for all participating teams.
The AFL fixture is 'fixed' to the advantage of special interests.
Gee I wish the AFL was a world leading sport.....

.ST KILDA will start the 2016 season with blockbuster home games in Rounds 2 and 3.
The Saints will play a rare home game against Collingwood at the MCG in Round 3, on a weekend that will commemorate the 50th anniversary of the club’s 1966 premiership.
>>>>>
The MCG home game – the Saints’ first since 2013 -- will come the weekend after the Saints’ first home game of the season, a Round 2 match at Etihad Stadium that is likely to coincide with a celebration of skipper Nick Riewoldt’s 300th career match

For some reason I have the date 24th Sep 1966 ingrained, but in fact we must have won our premiership in April.saintbrat wrote:http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/s ... b1d6f88b18

Re: 2016 Fixture ( released Thur 29th)
Only 5 interstate trips and none after round 15.
Only travel to WA and QLD once, twice to SA and NONE to Sydney.
3 games at the G and 14 at Etihad
all and all a pretty good draw

Re: 2016 Fixture
This is the fifth season of having two teams up here in Sydney - we've never had two games here in a season and in 2016 we get none. Fantastic.

Re: 2016 Fixture
Can somebody explain to me why the AFL still have a floating fixture for round 23 when the top 8 teams have a bye the following week?

Re: 2016 Fixture
we play WB, Nth, Ess, Carl and Melb twice.
I reckon a par season would have us with 7 or 8 wins anything more would be over-achieving.

Re: 2016 Fixture
I see that the idea put forward last season that the League be broken into three parts, the teams in each section playing each other twice has nearly been followed. But why are we playing North twice instead of Brisbane?
