Re: 2016 FIXture Wish List !!
I want back to back games in Darwin in July sometime. Fly up and have a week in Kakadu bookended by a couple of footy games and a nice break from the Melb winter. Perfect.

Re: 2016 FIXture Wish List !!
That's disappointing. Makes the Tasmania bailout seem even more devastating. I thought we could make NZ work. Maybe a year off to regroup and come up with a new plan.

How could NZ ever work? They don't care for game at all and people from Victoria cant keep going over there. You also need a passport which limits again. Forget it and look elsewhere if we need to play somewhere else.

The annual fixture leaks is the biggest AFL wank each season.
Clearly the fixture is set so why not just release it now without these stupid drip fed leaks.

Because it gets people talking about AFL footy. It isn't that hard to understand. The trade period could also be much shorter but why would they do that? Still talking footy.

Ok but the trade period is different. It's negotiation which when you are dealing with arrogant pricks like Essendon can take longer than it should.ripplug66 wrote:saintspremiers wrote:The annual fixture leaks is the biggest AFL wank each season.

The fixture is what Eddie, the big boys and TV wants with a token input from the other clubs.

No its different because you like it. If it was shorter trades would still get done. No idea what that last line has to do with releasing it. Actually it has nothing to do with releasing it.

nice touch saints... I'll be there.....In other fixture highlights St Kilda will host Sydney in a “Pride Match” to celebrate sexual diversity and equality, continue to pay tribute to Madeleine Riewoldt with a second annual Maddie’s Match against Richmond and play a Saturday twilight game against Fremantle in Round 10 as part of the rebranded Sir Doug Nicholls indigenous round.
The Saints are also expected have less Sunday twilight home games than in recent seasons.
St Kilda played seven Sunday matches last season, with four of them starting at 4.40pm. The average crowd for those Sunday twilight matches was 25,000, which included a bumper crowd of 46,000 for the inaugural Maddie’s Match in Round 16.
St Kilda will not play in New Zealand next season, after Wellington Council opted not to renew its three-year deal, but has requested matches in Launceston and Hobart, mindful that it has a large following in Tasmania.
The Saints have also requested that their VFL affiliate Sandringham play several curtain raisers ahead of Etihad Stadium home games.

Re: 2016 FIXture Wish List !!
It was never going to work, it was all about tourism and the aussie dollar being spent on local business. No crowds, no dollars.ripplug66 wrote:Well the NZ experiment didn't work. Where to next?
Where we go is anywhere but etihad if we want to make money. 2 games at Geelong, Tassie games, MCG, travel interstate.
NZ isnt the only place we could look at for overseas, Japan, Singapore, Malasia, but then again all highly doubtful when the NZ experiment is our reference
What a shame it is we don't have somewhere in Bayside to play our games
