Jaxon, we getting Weller or what?
Please be true so I can at least feel somewhat happy after the Carlisle crap.

Re: 2015 - Draft & Trade Thread
Freo keep saying No to Weller trade, but will need to offer another first rounder to get McCarthy trade happening.
GWS not open to discussions with the current offer
The only way it could be seen to happen is if they trade Weller for 14
Trade unlikely.. SEN

Position hasn't changed, pick 14 on table for Weller.
It is Freo's call.

Maybe Fremantle are ready to trade with GWS for Cam McCarthy.
But they don't have the currency to do the deal.

Re: 2015 - Draft & Trade Thread
It would be much better for us if we got weller this year as the saints want to land a JOM, or Kelly standrad player in 2016. With our second pick already gone it would be hard to land an elit mid plus Weller next year.saynta wrote:

Also Weller will probably be cheaper this period than next...if the deal can go.

The other way to look at it is he isn't very good and we may find that out by waiting. Matters little. he isn't coming.

yeah I'm concerned that we are by passing the draft completely if we get him. you already know a little bit of what you are getting with Weller, a new draftee could be the next superstar, it's a bit more lucky dip and our own guy we developed that way.

Well I meant this year but I can say he is happy at Freo and that comes from Mavs girlfriend. Doesn't mean he wont come though and he may not come if he isn't very good next season anyway.

Mc Carthy staying at GWS
Fremantle could not get the deal done.
Means saints ladies will have to wait until next year to get their hands on Lachie Weller.

Can we now call the PSD dead. Yep clubs use it as a threat but if no one follows through it is just bluff. Aish was definitely going in the PSD and there was talk we would get Carlisle like that but I don't believe that was ever happening and clubs know that. Not saying get rid of it but it wont get you stars anymore. Well maybe once in a blue moon.

Oh well. Who are we going to get with 14? Need to get right?
Bonner? Rioli? Ah Chee? Oliver? Clarke?

Fremantle offered their 2016 first rounder (expected to be late) and pick 22 for to GWS for Cam McCarthy.
Lyon would not give up Weller to do the deal with our pick 14 instead of 22.

Deep in the fourth quarter of the Grand Final Ross Lyon looks across and sees Weller in the stands. At the same time his team is three goals down but just hasn't got the forward to bring it home.ace wrote:Fremantle offered their 2016 first rounder (expected to be late) and pick 22 for to GWS for Cam McCarthy.

Pay the price Rossy, especially when Weller is OOC next season and he comes "home"

Well Mc Carthy didn't get there. They will hope that no one rates Weiderman I guess. I wonder If apexes will come on he was a higher scorer at TAC level than Boyd.

ST KILDA
IN: Jake Carlisle, Nathan Freeman
OUT: Nil
DRAFT PICKS: 14, 45, 68, 81, 99, 117
JON RALPH SAYS: Only at St Kilda. They finalise weeks of negotiations on Jake Carlisle then find he is the world’s stupidest footballer. Not only did he take drugs during delicate negotiations, he sent a video to a low-life friend prepared to sell them to A Current Affair. The only positive is they keep a first-round pick in the process (14) and have also been able to acquire speedster Nathan Freeman. It goes without saying there are separate question marks over both of them — one mind and the other body.Jay Clarke's winners and losers

Re: 2015 - Draft & Trade Thread
Provisional Draft Order
http://www.afl.com.au/news/2015-10-22/i ... od-unfolds
Clubs must clear space on their lists to activate the picks otherwise they vanish.
As clubs with academy and father-son candidates bid for players:
That clubs next pick will be promoted and all other remaining picks of all clubs will slide down by one.
If the pick promoted has surplus points those surplus points will create another pick further down the order.
If the pick promoted does not contain enough points that clubs next pick will vanish and any surplus points will create another pick later in the order.
In practice this will mean most picks will slip a few places down the order and will lose points as they have their value renewed with the lesser points of the new position.
St Kilda has provisional picks
14
45
68
81
99
117
With 4 places already created on our senior list and one on our rookie list
Sinclair certain to be promoted
2 players traded in
0 players traded out
St Kilda presently has only one clear senior list slot activating pick 14
A further two unfortunate players can expect to be delisted to activate picks 45 & 68
It is doubtful that picks 81, 99 & 117 will be activated to select a new player.
St Kilda will select a future superstar with pick 14
When Bailey Rice's name is called by another club, probably somewhere in round 2, St Kilda will use a 197 points father son bonus and the revised points from provisional picks 45 & 68.
At present pick 45 = 347 points and pick 68 = 59 points.
But these points will become less as their draft order slides.
I am predicting we could lose 150 to 300 points as these picks slide.
But those points will probably not be enough to secure Rice.
If Rice is indeed called in the second round St Kilda will need to raid points from its 2nd round pick of 2016.
But oops we have sold that to Collingwood so I assume it will be our third round 2016 that gets raided.
I hope it does not become our first rounder 2016 that gets raided.

If we can pull off Rice at pick 45 and get a good un with 14, we would have done well out of Trade Period, but if we muck up either of those, well not so good out of trade period.

If a club is short of points for a FS it will always FIRST be deducted from the clubs FIRST selection in the following year. So losing our second round selection in 2016 is not relevant.
If we do not have enough points for Rice this draft it will come from our first round and will most likelu mean our pick will slide one or 2 places.
ie Pick 7 becomes 8 (109 points short) or 9 (177 points short). 10 would be if we were 249 points short etc.
Lets hope that no one calls Bailey in the early 20's or we will be in trouble.
