Re: 2015 - Draft & Trade Thread
Why the concentration on the younger Weller?
Because his brother plays at St Kilda?
Premiership sides are not built on that basis - and the elder Weller will hopefully be in very, very hot competition for a spot with Billings and Acres developing and Freeman being added to a mid-field also including Gilbert - plus whoever else is obtained this off season.

we rated him 7 last year.. he has done well at senior level this year, well enough in first year to retain valueTo the top wrote:Why the concentration on the younger Weller?

Maybe our recruiters also rated last years draft above this years..
anyway... I doubt it is charity.. saints people have looked closely at him and rate him... and he is keen to come
why not chase him and take advantage of the brotherly connection?... it is the reason he wants to come so leverage it

"St Kilda now has picks 14, 44, 45, 68, 81, 99 and 117 in November's National Draft.'
Is that true or a mistsake. We don't have pick 44 do we?
Re: 2015 - Draft & Trade Thread
We dont have 44 and the bombers kept their second rounder
The Sydney Swans have been involved in a three-way trade with Essendon and St Kilda.
In the trade, the Swans have strengthened its draft position by acquiring picks 23 and 44 while midfielder Craig Bird has been traded to Essendon and draft pick 14 to St Kilda.
The Swans will now enter next month’s AFL Draft with picks 23, 33, 44, 54, 72, 90 and 108 – improving its overall total number of points under the newly introduced father-son and Academy bidding system.
Bird departs in three way trade

Re: 2015 - Draft & Trade Thread
Thats a ridiculous trade for Sydney, they effectively traded Bird for 17 points, less than pick 72.

Re: 2015 - Draft & Trade Thread
The dildo really is a wanker, trying to make himself look good.
"10:53am: Essendon's list manager Adrian Dodoro just gave a very revealing interview to AFL Trade Radio about the Jake Carlisle deal. He said up until St Kilda brought its second-round pick into play he thought big Jake would end up at Hawthorn.
"We have retained our second round selection, got pick 5 and got a premiership midfielder through the door.
"I want to acknowledge the Hawthorn football club for their professionalism. I actually thought up until 2pm yesterday he was going to the Hawks to be honest, but the Saints pulled out another card. I think Jake was wavering between the two – it could have gone either way."
Dodoro said Essendon had always had an interest in Sydney's Craig Bird, but that interest heated up when new coach John Worsfold decided they wanted him.
"We have been in discussions with Sydney Swans about him for a couple of weeks. It probably heated up in the last couple of days when John Worsfold identified him as someone he wanted to bring to the club."

Re: 2015 - Draft & Trade Thread
We held all the cards......and we blinked.
We've given up a very high first rounder, and 2 second rounders, and got a kid who's missed 2 years, and another who might miss 2 years.
Disappointed.

I think you have to trust the recruiters and medical staff at the Saints re Freeman and Carlisle.St Chris wrote:We held all the cards......and we blinked.

We must have had doubts that Carlisle was prepared to go to the PSD and were concerned that Hawthorn would grab him at the last moment.
Therefore doing the deal was the right move as our backline is ageing and we needed two young key defenders for the future.

RIOLI - pick 14
Theres a RIOLI who wants to make it is a GUN just like his family is/was so why not take him?? We NEED SPEED! We NEED SKILL. Why would we let rioli go when it will be the steal of the draft.
Just cause hes rated at 25-30 when hes 17!?
He willbe the best of the draft

Re: 2015 - Draft & Trade Thread
Last night the deal looked like a win, win, win. Now it looks more like Essendon are massive winners, Saints close to break even and swans got the raw deal. Don't see why the swans went with that deal.
If at first you don't succeed, sky diving is not for you.

I agree with you. I was pissed when we passed on Cyril. I hope we don't make the same mistake again.SMS wrote:RIOLI - pick 14

Milera and Gresham look better bets to me at 14. Milera is an outside mid, which we are short on, Gresham is a balanced mid, can play inside or outside. Rioli is more a small forward.

Jaxons - reckon our people did a great job. Plaudits to Bains and Trout. I reckon they may not be finished yet either.
I want to stand for something. I'm a loyal person and I think at the end of my career it will be great to look back and know that I'm a St Kilda person for life.
