Re: Jake Carlisle
Good deal. I am happy with that. Essentially we get Carlisle for pick 14.
We lock in Rice (45+63) and we get two live picks in the draft - 14 + 44

Sinclair will be one of those unless we delist a couple more and get an even later pick which is the way to go IMO.

Most likely will use 68 to upgrade Sinclair

You need to have three live picks in the draft, so we have to delist at least two more players.Con Gorozidis wrote:Good deal. I am happy with that. Essentially we get Carlisle for pick 14.

Ok - well we may not need 63 for Rice.saynta wrote:You need to have three live picks in the draft, so we have to delist at least two more players.Con Gorozidis wrote:Good deal. I am happy with that. Essentially we get Carlisle for pick 14.

Does Sinclair count as a 'live' pick?

Yes and has always and so does Rice. I have no idea how many have been delisted but if we use one pick we need 5 delisted. Obviously if we use 2 picks we need 6 delisted.

Well, it didn't in the past. Re: Jake Carlisle
Deal is Calrlisle done, Saints gave up 5 & 24.
Saints got back 14 and 44 and Carlisle.
So that is about 1079 points. So Carlise cost the Saints about pick 15. Which is what most reasonable people on both sides thought.
ie Not worth Pick 5, but worth more than Pick 24.
The deal as worked out also means that Saints have the likely points for Rice as a FS without risking our first pick being downgraded in 2016 which would have happened if we were short on too many points.

Re: Jake Carlisle
So we've given up picks 5 and 24 in order to land Carlisle? Wouldn't we have been better off just doing a straight swap with pick 5 for Carlisle?

Also we get 44 which can be used for Rice or Sinclair.

As it stood this morning the Saints still had picks 5, 24, 45, 68, 81, 99 and 117 at next month’s National Draft.
Now we have picks 14, 44, 45 ,68, 81, 99 and 117.
Not hard to find out.
