St Kilda's list manager Ameet Bains has just given an update on the Jake Carlisle situation.

"To be honest we've probably spoken to about five or six clubs. We've spoken today to Essendon again and things continue to be positive," he told SEN.

Asked whether he was confident Carlisle would end up at the Saints, he said: "that's our hope".

"We've still got some things to work through, clearly. Until the deal is done, the deal is not done."

Bains also ruled out any trade for ruckman Tom Hickey, who has been subject to several low-level rumours recently.

to clarify that- they did ask if Jake would be a Saint by Thurs afternoon- there is still the chance of PSD

Looks less and less likely that Bains will land Jake, and that's not all bad from the Saints perspective.

A lot of trades are traditionally done on the last day -even late on the last day.
The important thing is whether Carlisle is prepared to go to the PSD if a trade is not done by 2 p.m. Thursday.
If he is then the pressure is on Essendon to trade.

He is becoming less of an asset by the day for Essendon.
We are in a great position where we can offer Carlisle the most and go the PSD option if required.
Also we can fill the KPD vacancy in the next two years if required through FA

What it confirms as I have said all along is the PSD is a waste of time. Clubs and players and managers don't want to use it for star players. Bad reputation.
