Cheers Jaxons. Sounds overs to mind unless we have a great year next year. Hopefully the kid can play a bit.jaxons wrote:Freeman trade done.

We slip down 53 points.
In 2016 there will be no hang over picks like pick 19 this year.
If we finish in the same place on the ladder in 2016 we would have pick 23 = 815 points add 53 and we are 868 points - very close to pick 21 (assumes on compensation picks inserted.
So Freeman IN for pick 21 in 2016.

Great to have you on board Nathan.
I remember reading your draft rating when you were picked by the pies and liking the sound of your skills.
Glad you are with the Saints now and I wish you all the very best.

Under no circumstance trade 5 for Carlisle

With Carlisle in the back 6, Fisher could be more of a weapon, as he was in 2009/10, playing loose across half back and generating run out of the back line.ace wrote:Our best backline to develop our next premiership team may not be the best backline to win each match.ripplug66 wrote:Yes you have made your point already. Goddard and Carlisle could both play with Fisher as well. Fisher on a back flank OR one of Goddard or Carlisle in a back pocket.

Forgetting positions as most are largely irrelevant at this stage I have these 7 ahead of Goddard baring injury and a sudden form drop. Carlisle, Fisher, Robbo, Dempster, Gilbert, Geary and Webster. Allowing for Gilbert playing as a mid that's still 6 backs ahead of Goddard. All I said he waont be gifted games if we get Carlisle and will have to play well to get a game. Surely that is good for him and the side.

Summary is Freeman is a great pick up. Don't stress about his health. Club working overtime with half a dozen clubs to sort out a Carlisle trade. Just not interested in leaking every negotiation to the media. Also, Hickey will be a saint in 2016.

With all due respect 09-10 was 6-7 years ago. Expecting Fisher to be a 'weapon' and relive the glory days of 09-10 is not going to happen. He will mainly provide a mentor role. He is going on 33-34. Absolute twilight. I wouldnt expect him to play more than 8-10 games.Linton Lodger wrote:With Carlisle in the back 6, Fisher could be more of a weapon, as he was in 2009/10, playing loose across half back and generating run out of the back line.ace wrote:Our best backline to develop our next premiership team may not be the best backline to win each match.ripplug66 wrote:Yes you have made your point already. The Age 2:26pm: St Kilda's list manager Ameet Bains has just given an update on the Jake Carlisle situation.coopergrech wrote:Can someone please have a run down of what Ameet Bains said on SEN?
"To be honest we've probably spoken to about five or six clubs. We've spoken today to Essendon again and things continue to be positive," he told SEN.
Asked whether he was confident Carlisle would end up at the Saints, he said: "that's our hope".
"We've still got some things to work through, clearly. Until the deal is done, the deal is not done."
Bains also ruled out any trade for ruckman Tom Hickey, who has been subject to several low-level rumours recently.

He also wouldn't be drawn in on a commitment to a Carlisle trade being completed. His words were "Until the deal's done, the deal's not done".
I think the fact that the conversations and negotiations with Essendon means that a deal will eventually be struck. Still two days to go after today.
Essendon clearly want pick 5. St Kilda clearly want something coming back...a late 1st round or a couple of 2nd rounds.
If a third club is not involved then either St Kilda or Essendon will not be happy. Both can be happy if a third party is involved.

No mention of him being a weapon at all. I said they were the 7 I would have ahead of Goddard at the moment. That is all I said. I would expect him to play weekly baring injury. I doubt he is playing to mentor. Matter of fact I know he isn't. He has no interest in coaching at all. Can you give me your best back 6 now if we get Carlisle.

Just listened to Bains talk and he did say one interesting thing - that Hickey hadnt been mentioned in any trade talks.

You were. I didn't read the previous response. Sorry about that. Just read the first sentence and thought it was my post. Sorry. Yep heard that about Hickey. Very glad he is staying. He is our best ruck IMO. Only problem is the poor guy has to play in a position he isn't very good at.
