Re: 2015 - Draft & Trade Thread
I think that Carlisle, Weller (or pick 8), Freeman, Rice will come in this year with Sinclair upgraded.
We may lose our picks and a player or our round 2 pick in 2016 for all this.
In a week draft that would be a great outcome.
Next year we shall have a crack at JOM for a first round pick that year and next.
Add a free agent or two ready for 2017 and our list is aged profiled for a crack at deep finals in 2017.

Re: 2015 - Draft & Trade Thread
I am not sure I read it as Essendon taking our first offer....
I am anticipating getting only 23 back.. or 23 +a late pick at best
But we could package 23+24+a late pick for 8... gives GWS a heap of points...
And then we could feasibly trade 8 for Weller OR 8+next years first pick for Omeara
to get Freman and Rice we would need to sell Hickey for a 2nd rounder ..
and get a 3rd rounder back in one of the deals
So it is all vaguely possible
BUT I will believe it when I see it... I think the initials of the moniker are there for a reason...
BS has made some good calls but has also done his share of trolling.. he likes stirring the pot and sitting back and seeing what happens

Regardless of the outcome of this trading period, it has been a pleasure to witness the professional way our club is going about it all, rather than airing our dirty linen in public like the shambolic outfit from Essendon!
its time to make a name for yourself like you've never made before!

Anyone know how far O'Meara is down the recovery path and when he will be ready to play?
Did he do both knees?

One knee wasnt it?
But it was pretty bad as far as bad knees go.

Lachie Weller is looking very likely now!!!
GWS desperate for McCarthy and if we can get pick 8 of gws(assuming Carlisle deal is accepted) we could get Weller and pick 22 back from freo(guarenteeing rice as a saint next year)
This could be a possible way:
Trade 5,63
Get Carlisle ,23,25
Trade 23,24 to he'd
Get pick 8
Trade 8
Get Weller and pick 22
Rice for 43 or 22(depends on interest )
Trade 25
Get freeman
Gained:
Carlisle
Freeman
Rice
Weller
22
Lost:
5
63
25
23
24
Possibly 22-43(rice)
Really strong position and no future picks lost

Re: 2015 - Draft & Trade Thread
I'm hopeful that Essendon accept our offer, which will probably need to be slightly improved from what's reported but not greatly.
Jaxons posted weeks ago about JOM, but it seems those initial talks have ramped up a bit in the past 24 hours. It's a chance of working out for us this year which is exciting. JoM, is a talent equal to or perhaps better than Treloar (assuming his knee is ok which we'd know before committing).
Lachie might also work out, it's definitely working out next year (at this point in time - things change though) so it makes complete sense if Freo need to move someone on anyway. Cut their losses, do a 'Howe' and land their big fish. The 'loss' to Freo would also be lessened by having Bennell who is a decent sized upgrade on the field for Weller at this stage of his career.
I think if we get both I will be in awe of Bains and co especially after the events of Thursday, if we get one of them I will be mightily impressed.

I've already got one there. Added Elshaug and Finnis as well. Rumours of my change of sexual preference probably originated from my son, although BS tweeted it. Must be true then.bigred wrote:I'd be putting a pic of Bains above my bed.

Not sure we will be able..I think the rules are that you must use 2 first round draft picks in four year cycle for draftingBackFromUSA wrote:I think that Carlisle, Weller (or pick 8), Freeman, Rice will come in this year with Sinclair upgraded.
We may lose our picks and a player or our round 2 pick in 2016 for all this.

Think u are right. So we would have to try and jag a late first rounder to use in draft next year (or the following). Not impossible.Freebird wrote:Not sure we will be able..I think the rules are that you must use 2 first round draft picks in four year cycle for draftingBackFromUSA wrote:I think that Carlisle, Weller (or pick 8), Freeman, Rice will come in this year with Sinclair upgraded.

Re: 2015 - Draft & Trade Thread
bombers have made a counter offer, it seems...
5 for Carlilse + 3rd rounder (44)
I would certainly settle for carlisle +23+44 for 5+63
i.e let 25 from our original offer slide to 44
I doubt we expected them to take our original offer.. so we must have had some target in mind.. maybe it is it bit closer toward essendon....

That leaves us with Carlisle 23, Freeman, Rice, 45, Sinclair.

AFL trade period: Gold Coast's Charlie Dixon tied into Jake Carlisle trade talks
St Kilda and Port Adelaide have discussed a proposal that Charlie Dixon be tied into a trade that would deliver Jake Carlisle to the Saints and the Suns forward to Port.
With St Kilda and Essendon in a similar impasse over Carlisle as the Power and Suns are over Dixon, the proposal was presented as a way break the deadlock in both negotiations.
Under the idea raised at the weekend, Port Adelaide would trade pick 10 and a future pick (probably a first-round pick) to St Kilda for pick 5.
The Saints would give pick 10 to Essendon for Carlisle and Port would offer five to the Suns for Dixon.
An exchange of other later draft picks may also be involved, with the Power likely to want a pick or picks back in return for giving up two valuable first round selections.
