But he's not going to go into the PSD. He and his manager have made it crystal clear that if wee can't trade for him he is open to going to Hawthorn.saintjake wrote:Bombers rejected the offer.
The way I read the release.. It's very much one of those "read between the lines things"
The offer we gave would not have been pick 5 and not something Essendon would like. But we've now offered something, that both the club and Carlisle believe is fair.. Paving a way for Carlisle to leave for nothing.
He said he didn't want to leave the club with nothing. But if they keep rejecting our offer, he has every right to leave.

Anyone care to guess who the player might be? Ross + 24 seems plausible. Bombers need to replace Watson and Stanton.
I'd be a bit sad as I like the kid and think hes going to make it. But it might be the only way. If we get Matho/Milera/Oliver with pick 5 it will be a good consolation.

It looks as if Carlislle will stay strong with us until Thursday but if we can't offer something acceptable to Essendon he will be prepared for them to trade with Hawthorn.
The only way we can hold firm is if Carlisle is prepared to bluff them by stating that he is prepared to go into the PSD and then Essendon will cave in and accept our offer instead of getting nothing. (Similar to Luke Ball in 2009)

No way will he go in the PSD and risk Brisbane or GC. Carlton also might re-enter the fray.
If we cant match pick 15 & 18 - and I dont believe we can - he's off to the Hawks imo. The longer it goes - the weaker our hand. This should have been finalised on Monday.

Doesnt have to - I just figured if it was a player you would not want that player to know at this stage. I also cant think of any way we can get Carlisle that doesnt include either a player or pick 5.kosifantutti wrote:Why does it have to involve a player to be confidential? Loving all the drama.
I think it's great we have another 4 days of trading games. Once the fun finsihes next week it's pretty boring until late November and the draft.
I really hope we don't cave in for this Demi God player that hasn't had a good year since 2013

You're all such crusty old sooks.
Read between the lines. Again the club and Carlisle have come out and said I WANT TO PLAY FOR ST.KILDA.
If Essendon don't accept the deal he puts a price on his head and walks to us. Doesn't take calls from anyone and says he only wants the Saints ala Luke Ball.
Before that happens though Essendon accept our trade because they won't want to lose him for nothing.
We have all the power

Send him to the PSD, F em.
If Carlton take him,so be it,they'll be sh*t for another 6-7 years anyway, and Essendope get nothing for him,Hawthorn don't bolster there ridiculous defence further, and we use pick 5 on doing what we should be doing and trying to get to many midfielders
Meanwhile,Treloar/Filth still havent signed,yet so quite everywhere,not a sound...

I never understood how Luke Ball got away with saying he would only play for Collingwood in 2009.
Didn't Tippet get suspended for manipulating the draft?

Well we have put our offer to Essendon on the table.
My only hope is that our guys remembered that Dildo can't read.
It will take a lot of drawings for him to understand anything that is not a direct trade.

5:20pm: Breaking from Jake Niall and Emma Quayle:
St Kilda have offered Essendon pick No.5 for Jake Carlisle the first time, but wanted two second round selections in return as well as the key position player.
Essendon have already rejected the offer, clearly viewing the give back of two second rounders as excessive.
In a response that followed the stunning bid by Hawthorn to land Carlisle, the Saints tabled an offer in which they would give up their first pick, No.5, but would receive Essendon's picks 23 and 25 - the latter having been secured in the trade that sent Jake Melksham to Melbourne.
Under the St Kilda proposal that Essendon spurned, the Bombers would also receive pick No.61 back.

Re: Jake Carlisle
Pick 23 + Carlisle for pick 5 seems plausible. Values Carlisle at pick 16.
The question has to be asked why we didnt offer this 5 days ago? They would have agreed then. Essendon can now get 15 + 18 for him and now Jake has time on his hands to think about the hawks....
My guess is now is we will have to give up pick 5 and probably only get pick 25 back - valuing Carlisle at pick 15.
So under this case - we then use 25 on Freeman and we use 24 in the draft.
Looks like this:
Carlisle, 24, Freeman, Rice
We probably lost one place in the draft (24-23) by faffing around on this.

This is just getting ridiculous. Essendon ARE NOT DEALING IN GOOD FAITH. We've now offered pick 5 and they have rejected it.
Hopefully Jake is watching this and thinking the PSD right now because St Kilda has bent over backwards for these bastards.

St Kilda gives up pick 5 and 63 (after free agency)
Pick 5 = 1,878 pints
Pick 63 = 112 points
St Kilda is offering 1,990 points
St Kilda want picks 23 and 25 plus Carlisle
Pick 23 = 815 points
Pick 25 = 756 points
That means 1,571 points plus Carlisle
Values Carlise at 419 points = pick 41 (412 points)
St Kilda probably expect Essendon to come back and say only pick 25 thus increasing Carlisle value up to 1,175 points = pick 14 (1,161 points)

If we end up with only picks 45 (378 points) to use in the draft we may not have enough points with a father son discount to secure Bailey Rice if someone calls him before pick 33.Con Gorozidis wrote:Ok so assuming we use 25 on Freeman.

If we do only get one second rounder from Essendon then we may pull pick 63 off the table.
Picks 45 + 63 = 459 points is more likely to guarantee we get Bailey Rice with a father son discount of 197 points = 656 points.
It would enable us to trump pick 29.
