I think GWS will be alright, they are using their academy and will be drafting a lot of NSW players. Brisbane are doing the same in Queensland, but Gold Coast dont seem to be involved in an academy. Maybe they are not worried about the "Go Home" factor.

surely the rumours of a trade deal with Hickey is just media talk ? surely?
not sure it would be wise to punt McEvoy & Hickey in quick succession

We have some Ruck depth.

A lot of clubs do not.

FWIW, I don't think out list is remotely close to being a premiership list.

Still a lot of building to do.

It gets tempting to recruit dudes at this time of year, but we still need another good year at the National Draft or two.

I cannot understand why dp's are so precious particularly in a crap draft like this one. If a young Judd or Ablett were available for trade, some on here would be saying we should instead be drafting some untried kid who could be a dud. Don't get it myself. It's like choosing a new Daewoo over a well kept two year old Merc because its shiney and new.

I don't think it's as simple as that.

You know what you get with a Daewoo. But you don't know what you get with a top 20 draft pick.

Its not an exact science.

What we do know for a fact though, is that all flag teams are built from the draft.

i wouldn't say nowhere near it. He was capable at the tap work, actually probably our best pure ruck but really needs to find a way to b more effective with out the ball. Billy is probably slightly better but still not great around the ground yet.

Um, are you serious?

Henderson is an absolute spud.
Have you watched any of his games this year or asked any Carlton supporters?

Carlton have won that big time.
Geelong paid way overs, time will prove that, nearly willing to bet my left nut.

Well lets see if we have premiership list.
See how many player names you can fill in
e.g Mc Cartin will be better than Riewoldt

??? will be better than Riewoldt
??? will be better than Hayes
??? will be better than Goddard
??? will be better than Dal Santo
??? will be better than Montagna
??? will be better than Hudghton
??? will be better than Fisher
??? will be better than Gram
??? will be better than Baker
??? will be better than Dempster
??? will be better than Ball
??? will be better than Milne

Remember the guys on the right did NOT win us a premiership.

You can never replace ??? with those players, because you need time to prove yourself.

Those players you listed would of been the ??? ten years ago, and you asking if they'd replace Burke, Lowe, Hudgeton, Peckett etc

I have no idea why we want to trade Hickey, he is 10x's better than Longer.

Oh and Collingwood can GTFO from Acres.

They can take Saad, as much as I like the guy, I don't think he'll regain that form, happy to be proven wrong, but I'd rather have Markworth on the rookie list.

Everything remains possible while we still have pick 5.

What about this one:

Hickey + pick 24 to Sydney for pick 14. Sydney also trade out Bird for a pick in the 20s giving them the points they need for Mills.
Pick 14>Carlisle
Pick 5> Kelly + Pick 45
Pick 42 > Freeman
PIck 45> Rice.

I am willing to give Eddie acres - two of them, pain killers will be useless.

Kelly for pick 5, oh yes please.
He was pick 2 in 2013, ahead of Jack Billings.

The bottom 3 seem a bit light

Kelly contracted- will require more
Freeman, pies want 1st saints say 3rd, Bains saying we'll probably meet them half way
45 for rice, I dont know that he'd last that long in a shallow draft, may require a downgrade of next years picks if we only had 45 left

Looks like we'd have to use some of next years picks

Geelong are giving new meaning to the term 'dead cat bounce'.
They might sneak back into the finals but they will hit the bottom in a few years.

What about if we use 45 + 60 for Rice. That means if someone nominates him at 30 - we can still take him on points.

I guess we might to have to throw in next years 2nd rounder for Free-maniac.
