Re: 2015 - Draft & Trade Thread
2 deals need to happen with other clubs not involving us and that will open up a real chance to nab another young gun from another club that will tie in to our pick 5 & 24.
Possible we give up 5 & 24 for Carlisle, Freeman and young gun.
3 jets with our first 2 picks in a shallow draft.
Would be elite trading if it happens.
I can say the goalposts shift on an hourly basis, so lets wait and see.
Promises to be an interesting 2 weeks coming up that's for sure.
Will do my best to bring it to Saintsational first.

Thanks for the info jaxons. Fingers crossed, I look forward to Sainters pulling off a great trade. (hopefully the young gun your talking about is a better player than Young from Port).

Re: 2015 - Draft & Trade Thread
No Mr Precious, aka Aish.
No our pick 5 bombed away for Carlisle. (I'd rather pick 5 go on another bomb. )
We're off to a very good start here. I like. Please keep them coming oh great saxons warrior.
I wonder if the secret young gun is Kelly? I'd prefer not. But we could do far worse - like Mr Precious.
Or, maybe I'm getting in a bit early here, or more to the point, maybe our recruiters are, but, maybe the secret identity is only to be revealed on a knee(d) to know basis???
Now I'd drink that!
Should I, and all of us, end up having that drink this year, then next year - I wonder if there's a way we could lure a Brayshaw, Petracca or Heeney??? I think yes.
I'd also be watching the expiry dates on a couple of young Dogs. Maybe end of 2017 season(?)
I don't think that club will be at all buoyed by Boyd clogging up their salary cap whilst also clogging up the full forward possie' in their VFL team. Given how we have positioned our list and our cap, I reckon we could be a very very real chance of deconstructing their list a tad, and pirating ourselves a Stringer (who could then also catch up with a couple of his mates who post here on SS ) or a Bont'.
And to those who may scoff at these things being possible, just a friendly reminder from me to you that - I have a crossbow.

Is this young gun from a finals team? Any chance its Lennon or Anderson....or am I way off the mark?jaxons wrote:2 deals need to happen with other clubs not involving us and that will open up a real chance to nab another young gun from another club that will tie in to our pick 5 & 24.
Possible we give up 5 & 24 for Carlisle, Freeman and young gun.
3 jets with our first 2 picks in a shallow draft.
Would be elite trading if it happens.

How many International rookies can we have?
IRISH prospects Darragh Joyce and Colin O'Riordan have created plenty of interest at the NAB AFL Draft Combine, with the teenagers considered strong chances to earn international rookie contracts.
"I've had interviews with the Swans, St Kilda, Essendon, Brisbane and the Bulldogs, so there has been a bit of interest.

Re: 2015 - Draft & Trade Thread
well according to journo-s we got an A for last years work
http://www.afl.com.au/news/2015-10-10/2 ... club-rated
The Saints put the No.1 pick on the table but weren't tempted by four packages of draft selections to deal and they used it on Paddy McCartin. Saw Rhys Stanley off to Geelong, which netted them a second first-round pick, and took a punt on one delisted free agent.
Trade
Missed out on Jono O'Rourke and Kristian Jaksch but Stanley to the Cattery benefitted both parties, with the ruckman showing good signs before a foot injury. In exchange, the Saints got pick No.21 from the Giants, via the Lions and Cats on-trades, which they used on Hugh Goddard. The key position prospect played eight games and showed glimpses of promise down back and later in attack.
Free Agency
Let James Gwilt go to Essendon as an unrestricted free agent but didn't get any compensation. Added to their forward line dimension by recruiting Sydney Swans' forward Tim Membrey as a delisted free agent, who had some impressive moments in his 12 games as a third forward and brought something new to their attacking mix.
Draft
Moved to address a variety of needs with a key forward, key back, midfielder (Daniel McKenzie) and small forward (Jack Lonie) – all of which played in their first season, with their No.41 pick Lonie the most prolific with 17 games. Top rookie pick Jack Sinclair was another revelation with 18 games while Lonie benefitted from close tutelage from the now-retired Adam Schneider.
Overall rating: A
Kept their big pick, landed another, and addressed a handful of requirements with players who all showed positive signs in their first year. - Jennifer Phelan
only 2 others they gave A- Hawthorn and Bulldogs

Re: 2015 - Draft & Trade Thread
Hickey goes to the Dogs along with pick 24 and ends up a zit.
We get pick 11 and 30.
We give Essendon pick 11 for Carlisle.
We give Collingwood pick 30 for Freeman.
You remember pick 30 season 2009 Collingwood, the rubbish you offerred us for Luke Ball in a draft that was compromised by having only 8 months of fresh youngsters to pick from instead of 12 months.
Come to think of it maybe the filth may prefer pick 42 and some list cloggers.
Then St Kilda can trade for a young gun like Kelly, Petracca etc or use pick 5 in the draft.
Just make sure we do unto Collingwood as they did unto us.

Re: 2015 - Draft & Trade Thread
I just hope when giving up pick 5 at all consideration is given that we are passing on a potential gun in Mathieson at draft who some have likened to Hodge/Hayes and captain material.....jaxons wrote:2 deals need to happen with other clubs not involving us and that will open up a real chance to nab another young gun from another club that will tie in to our pick 5 & 24.

IF we trade 5 & 24 for Freeman (still to play a game with massive ?) and Carlisle (not worth 5 - mid teens at best) and the young gun turns out to be Hrovat from the Dogs then I reckon we've missed a gem at the draft....
Mathieson will be an A grade mid according to those astute draft observers...
