Re: Jake Carlisle
Second rounder and Ross for Carlisle would be my hope
Third round to pies for freeman
Keep pick 5
They are OOC no need to deal so hard. All huff and puff from dickdoro!!
He either accepts or take nothing! We'll pick him up in PSD.
Carlton cant afford him. Actually no one can in front of us so whatevs!!!
They will look like the biggest morons taking him back LOL let em do it. Play hard ball saints. We need a flag. To do that have to get bargains at draft.
Pick 5, carlisle and freeman would be fantastic.

carlton might pick him up in PSD. but agreed, we don't need to overpay or even pay fair market value.

What does OOC matter? Most players who leave are out of contract. Freeman will cost more than pick 45 and so he should. We could get Carlisle with a second round pick but it will take a pretty good player. I think the true vale of both players is Carlisle around pick 12-16 and Freeman about 25. Keeping pick 5 would be great but it maybe not possible and I rather the 2 we are chasing than miss out and get one untried young kid. The obvious answer is we give them pick 5 and they give us their second rounder that we then use on Freeman.

Re: Jake Carlisle
Great that Carlisle has chosen us, but let Essendon sweat on it. Pick 5 is univerasally acknowledged as being overs.
As our fall back we should at least get Freeman with it in a 3 way.

Re: Jake Carlisle
I don't understand your valuations given the players have nominated the saints. Who are Essendon / Collingwood going to use to create competitive tension - there effectively is none at the moment given it's only the saints and both players want out

Re: Jake Carlisle
Would I be right in thinking we hold all the cards in this trade? Say negotiations brake down with Essendon and the deal doesn't get done in trade period.
We are offering him a heavily front loaded contract which would mean he'd go into the PSD with a huge price on his head for that first year.
I can't see Carlton paying overs for a guy that doesn't want to be there and could walk after one year. Could they even afford to match our price in their salary cap?
If not we should absolutely be playing hard ball. Because worst case as i can see is we keep all our draft picks and we take him in the PSD.
Our large offer and Jake wanting to be at our club gives us an upper hand in negotiations and a fair trade should reflect that and skew in closer to our favour.
It'd be nice to get the deal done in the trade period, but if Essendon aren't being realistic then it's really them that have more to lose.
We've been through this same scenario with Luke Ball. Would be nice to get one back

Re: Jake Carlisle
I'd still like to throw a St Kilda player into the equation and keep pick 5. Not Billings of course and there are other untouchables but there must be a player that we could lose and Essendon would gain who would want to go and might do OK out of moving. Combination of draft picks and players but not pick 5.ripplug66 wrote:SMS wrote:Second rounder and Ross for Carlisle would be my hope

Maybe they might take all of White, Siposs and Schneider (and any others we've delisted).Gershwin wrote:I'd still like to throw a St Kilda player into the equation and keep pick 5. Re: Jake Carlisle
Trade radio talking up pick 5 for Carlisle..........but we hold the cards here, if Aish goes to the PSD and Carlton get him, we are in line for Carlisle for nothing....let Essendon sweat on that scenario.
Let's not forget the Lovett deal...Bombers think they have a divine right to shaft the rest of the competition, and us in particular.
Would rather not get Carlisle than swap pick 5....OOC and wants to come, you cannot expect parity from that deal, you literally are at the mercy of the club he wants to go to....let's not show them any (or at least not much)

Re: Jake Carlisle
- Trade Hickey/Longer for a first round pick (many teams looking for a Ruckman)
- Use the pick we receive for either Hickey or Longer for Carlisle
- Second or Third rounder for Freeman
- Pick 5 and next years second rounder (or player) for Treloar
Any realistic chance?
