Yeah!!!

He's a good player! Have never felt like it was a major need to recruit defenders this early but surely after this talls are set for the next decade...?

Mids time baby!

Won't be trading pick 5 for Carlisle.
Possible we swap our pick 5 for two later first rounders and use one of them for Carlisle.
Also possible we do our second round pick plus a player, or this years second rounder and next years.
Love your work Jaxons!

So Lee, a seconds player, is in the mix but you want Gilbert and Geary, both always picked in the ones when fit, off the list. Well that pretty much makes no sense at all.

No room in the backline for players who can't kick under pressure. If Gilbert plays he plays wing or onball, Geary nowhere but Sandringham.

Well again you will be disappointed every week baring injury. Howard was a nice kick in the backline. LJ kicked it well as a HBF. You must not rate our coaching panel very highly?
He's back... Dont forget to update your ignore list folks.
I know, and having a go at Geary again

If we swap a player my gut feel is it could be Seb Ross

Would rather you kept on posting.

My mail is club won't do the pick 5 swap unless it is a player they want + a 10-16 pick.

Preference is player + 2nd rounder trade for Carlisle.

Feeling is that Bombers know they will need mature players not 17 year olds next year.

I dont think next years 2nd rounder is up for grabs IMHO. Not fact - just a gut feel.

One to you jaxons :) Beat the rest on this one..

afl.com.au

JAKE Carlisle appears set to nominate St Kilda as his preferred destination.

AFL.com.au understands the uncontracted Essendon swingman could inform the Saints as early as Thursday that he will be seeking a trade to the club, having also considered a move to Carlton.

The 200cm Carlisle quit the Bombers at the end of the season after 85 games in six seasons. The 24-year-old played some excellent football in 2012 and 2013, before his form fell away and his desire to remain at the club was clearly on the wane.

New Essendon coach John Worsfold made a last-ditch attempt to keep him at the club earlier this week, however Carlisle was too far down the path towards finding a new football home, having met extensively with the Saints and Blues and having undergone medical tests.

The Saints had no comment on Wednesday night, but have previously indicated they have Carlisle pencilled in as a key defender, where they have gaping holes and which was his preferred position with the Bombers.

The NAB AFL Trade period officially commences on Monday, at which time the Saints and Bombers can step up negotiations over a deal for Carlisle.

All good mate. It genuinely sounds like he was planning on being a Carlton player for most of the year before we upped the offer by a couple of years and a couple of mil. I'm guessing we weren't planning on going after big fish in the trade period for a year or two, but these circumstances mean we can seriously bend Essendon over at the trade table and we decided to go for it. Goddard, Carlisle, Longer, Bruce, McCartin undoubtedly the best young spine in the competition. Three more elite mids and I think we're set.

How the fudge are we going to trade pick 5 for two later first round picks?

Wtf am I missing here?

700 grand a year for 5 years pmsl
Surely someone's taking the piss with that.
Give him 400 that's plenty
Lol
700
For 700 he would want to be the AA full back 3 out of those 5 years and top 3 in our B&F

If I see one squib moment from him on the park......

And to top it off there are still the ASADA bans to come. I guess they are assuming they will be minimal.

Belinda hasn't played well for a couple of years either according to the article so I hope it's just our second rounder and Seb for Carlisle.

Since when did players leaving a club nominate another club?

Making it all so public does that help or hinder us re getting a good trade and not getting bent over??

He wouldn't move to us for 400 and he is worth more than 400 regardless.

You always have to pay more to attract someone to the club.

Trelour, Judd and just about every player these days. Freeman and so on. It doesn't really help or hurt IMO. You still need to pay true value. What that is I don't know but it is more than 27 and less than 5.

650k, which is closer to the figure, is nothing for us.

First of all we've been front loading our contracts and haven't paid our vets from the vets list simply to get to the minimum 95%.

Joey, Roo, Dempster, Fisher could all be moved to the vets list and you realise signing Carlisle for market rate doesn't have any effect on our cap. Bains is brilliant at managing our tpp. In fact, we can probably do another Carlisle sized deal this trade perio if we wanted to and still have no concerns re our cap!
