Re: Saints homeward bound!!
Any updates on the move back to Moorabbin?
It'll be nice to have our new state of the art base as a means of enticing players to the club.
What sort of time frame are we looking at?

Re: Saints homeward bound!!
I wonder when the big announcement re:Moorabbin is going to come... I'm guessing in the middle of the off season to give the club a bit of back page news when there isn't much footy news floating around. What's the figure they're looking to sink into the place? $30 million? I hope they have a big St.Kilda emblem on the building... kind of like the old emblem on the back of the old moorabbin grandstand.... except bigger... and 3D.. like the Richmond strips on Punt rd oval.

I won't believe it's Dave until he writes a long post including of pictures of the St.Kilda festival, using nicknames I can't understand.
Re: Saints homeward bound!!
Have they got the cash for it yet? Last time I looked we still had to raise several million to reach our target.prwilkinson wrote:I wonder when the big announcement re:Moorabbin is going to come... Not sure if this has been posted before, it's the most recent I could find - quite a bit of info;Playon wrote:Have they got the cash for it yet? "The Victorian Government has committed $150,000 in this year’s Budget to conduct a detailed business case and design plans for the project which is currently underway."
"The proposed expanded $29 million redevelopment would be funded largely via extra support from the AFL, the St Kilda Football Club and the Victorian Government. The project also requires an increased contribution from Kingston Council. Council resolved in May this year to fund $4 million towards building works for the community football facilities and indoor court and $1 million towards landscape works at the park. Council’s funding is contingent on the project being fully funded by the Victorian Government and the AFL."
"The cost and responsibility for maintaining the facilities after they have been built will be overseen by the St Kilda Football Club."

And a bit more here;
"St Kilda Football Club recently presented a concept to Council to expand existing redevelopment of the Moorabbin Reserve to include removal of the G.G Huggins stand to make way for state of the art training and administration facilities plus an indoor sports court."

I'm only going by memory, but I think the club estimated that to get what they want would cost somewhere between 38 mill to 43 mill. With the higher figure obviously what they'd really like. Doesn't that make us short 5-10 mill?

Re: Saints homeward bound!!
No doubt the cost of the project will blow out, as these things invariably do. It'll probably end up costing something closer to the amount you quoted, Playon.Playon wrote:I'm only going by memory, but I think the club estimated that to get what they want would cost somewhere between 38 mill to 43 mill. I'm just glad we're heading home at last. We should name the new toilet block the "Archie Fraser & Topsy Petchy Memorial Pissoir", to remind us of the crap this club had to go through just to undo the appalling incompetence of those two clowns.
I started with nothing and I've got most of it left!
Re: Saints homeward bound!!
Well I think I'm totally wrong on the cost, it's been awhile since I read it. Perhaps i was 10 mill over. Too long ago. I know we still had to raise more cash for our part. Hopefully thats been covered now. In comparison the bombers spent 55mil.
However I still remember the old toilet blocks at Moorabbin, Geez how could you forget those. Maybe we could reconstruct one for your memorial.
Miss the old ground, that was what it was really like to go to the footy

Rather then construct the whole block, they could sell little "perfumed" vials.
"Scent of Moorabbin".
I guarantee that unique smell would get the memories flooding back.
